They stayed like that for a few seconds after the kiss ended.

Foreheads still close.

Breathing uneven but slowly settling.

Wonyoung’s fingers were still curled into his shirt, like she hadn’t fully decided whether to let go yet. Yujin didn’t rush her. His hand stayed gently at the back of her head, steadying her like he was afraid the moment might slip away if he moved too fast.

Wonyoung was the first to break the silence, her voice barely above a whisper.

“…we should go home.”

Yujin blinked once, then gave a small, soft nod.

“Yeah,” he said quietly. “Let’s go home.”

He started the car again.

This time, he actually pulled out of the parking lot.

The drive back was calmer.

Not empty.

Just full in a quieter way.

The city lights blurred past the windows, painting soft streaks across Wonyoung’s face as she leaned slightly against the seat. Her hand rested near his on the center console—not fully holding, but close enough that their fingers brushed whenever the car turned.

Yujin noticed every time.

Neither of them said much.

There was no need to.

The silence between them now felt different from before.

Not distance.

But understanding.

When the gates of their home finally came into view, Wonyoung exhaled softly.

Even after all these years, the house still felt… big.

Too big sometimes.

A modern, quiet space built from years of offshore allowance, promotions, hazard bonuses—money earned in exchange for time they never got back.

Yujin parked the car and turned off the engine.

For a moment, neither of them moved.

Then he looked at her.

“We’re home,” he said gently.

Wonyoung nodded slowly. “Yeah…”

But she didn’t get out immediately.

Neither did he.

Instead, Yujin reached over and opened her door first, like he always did when he remembered to be soft.

That small gesture made her pause for a second longer before stepping out.

Inside the house, it was quiet.

Too quiet for a home with children, but they were still out—Kyzer at his activity, Arthurs still at daycare. The emptiness wasn’t loneliness today. It was just space waiting to be filled again.

Wonyoung walked in slowly, setting her handbag on the counter.

Yujin followed behind, loosening his tie, exhaling like his body was finally catching up to everything it had been holding all day.

“I’ll take a quick bath,” he said. “Wash off the offshore smell.”

Wonyoung gave a small nod. “Okay.”

She hesitated, then added softly, “I’ll go after you.”

He paused for a second, then looked at her.
