For a full week now, Yujin and Wonyoung hadn’t spoken.
Even though they lived in the same house, she refused to give him a single chance to explain himself.
He knew he was at fault somehow, but he still didn’t know why she was this mad.
Just last night, they had dinner together when he suddenly received a call from the hospital.
As a doctor, emergencies were normal — but he didn’t leave her alone.
He brought her with him, let her stay in his office, and went to perform two surgeries that night.
Still… she had been strangely grumpy.
Before marriage she always understood his work, but last night felt different. Odd.
And now they were home, yet she wouldn’t let him into their bedroom.
Since last night, the door had stayed locked.
He tried knocking — nothing.
He tried calling — her phone was switched off.
He couldn’t even remember where the spare key was.
So Yujin sighed and accepted that he had no choice but to sleep on the couch in the living room.
He didn’t understand why she was acting like this, but he promised himself he’d find out tomorrow.
For now, exhaustion washed over him.
He sent her a soft goodnight text, placed his phone on the side table, laid down on the couch, and slowly drifted off.
Wonyoung herself didn’t even know why she was so mad at him the night before.
Something had felt wrong lately — maybe stress, maybe her own emotions — but she couldn’t explain it.
Still, she punished him by making him sleep on the couch.
She had a lot of work the next day, so she forced herself to sleep.
But at 2 a.m., she jolted awake from a nightmare — a terrifying one.
As soon as she sat up, she heard a loud knocking at her door.
Startled, she rushed to open it.
Yujin stood there, breathless and panicking.
“Wae, wae, wae? What happened? Something wrong? Why?” he asked hurriedly.
She blinked. Why was he panicking?
“Why did you knock so loud?” she asked flatly.
“Wae? You shouted my name just now! Did something happen? Are you hurt?”
Shouted?
Her?
Calling him?
Did she?
“…No.”
He stared at her for a long second, then gently took her hand, intertwining his fingers with hers.
“Still don’t want to admit that you can’t sleep without me?”
Well… she had woken up from a nightmare searching for him, but she refused to say it.
“Confident,” she muttered.
“Well, of course I am.”
“Let me go. I want to sleep.”
Instead, he pulled her into his arms.
She tried to wriggle free, but he held her firmly.
“Let me go, Yujin.”
