The house was quiet when the phone rang that afternoon.

Yujin had just finished washing the dishes while the twins were playing on the living room floor with their toys. The sound of small plastic cars bumping against each other echoed across the room while their giggles filled the air.

Wonyoung walked out of the bedroom, drying her hands on a towel when she saw Yujin answering the phone.

“Hello?” Yujin spoke calmly.

On the other side of the line was the daycare teacher.

His expression slowly changed as he listened.

“Ah… they didn’t eat again?” he asked softly, glancing toward the living room where the twins were rolling around the carpet.

The teacher sighed on the phone.

“Mr. Ahn… we tried everything today. We made seaweed soup and rice for lunch, but Minjae and Jiwo refused to eat. We tried feeding them, but they kept closing their mouths. They cried, pushed the spoon away, even turned their heads.”

Yujin rubbed his forehead slightly.

“They didn’t eat anything?”

“They only wanted snacks. We tried to explain that they need real food, but Jiwo especially kept crying. He kept repeating ‘I want fish, I want fish’ during class too…”

Yujin let out a quiet breath.

“I understand. Thank you for telling us.”

When he hung up, Wonyoung was already looking at him with a worried expression.

“What happened?”

Yujin leaned against the counter.

“They didn’t eat lunch again.”

Wonyoung frowned.

“What do you mean?”

“The teacher said they refused seaweed soup and rice. They cried and pushed the spoon away.”

Wonyoung immediately shook her head.

“No… that doesn’t sound like them.”

She looked toward the living room.

Minjae and Jiwo were sitting on the carpet, completely happy, stacking toy blocks like nothing had happened earlier.

“They wouldn’t act like that unless something’s wrong,” she murmured.

Yujin shrugged slightly.

“Maybe they’re just being stubborn.”

Wonyoung crossed her arms.

“I’m going to test it tonight.”

That evening the smell of warm seaweed soup slowly filled the house.

The kitchen lights glowed softly as Wonyoung placed bowls on the table. Steam rose gently from the soup while the rice sat warm beside it.

Yujin walked in, already loosening his sleeves.

“That smells good.”

Wonyoung looked at him.

“Of course it does. I made it.”

Yujin chuckled quietly.

“You know I’ll eat anything you cook.”

She rolled her eyes but a small smile appeared.

Soon the twins climbed onto their chairs.

Minjae was swinging his legs under the table while Jiwo was holding his spoon like a toy sword.
