The final bell rang loudly through the corridors of the school, echoing against the lockers and concrete walls as students immediately began pouring out of their classrooms. The once quiet hallways quickly filled with chatter, laughter, and the dragging sound of backpacks across shoulders.

Ahn Yujin stepped out of his classroom with one hand lazily holding the strap of his backpack. At seventeen, he had already grown tall—taller than most of the boys in his grade—and his slightly messy hair framed a face that always seemed calm, almost lazy.

But his friends knew better.

“Oi, Yujin. Basketball practice today?” one of them asked while nudging his shoulder.

Yujin stretched his arms behind his head as they walked toward the exit gate. “Maybe later,” he replied casually.

The group continued walking down the wide hallway, the sunlight from the glass windows casting warm golden lines across the floor. Students rushed past them, some heading to the bus stop, some waiting for their parents outside the gate.

As they stepped out into the open courtyard, the afternoon air felt warmer. The sounds of cars, conversations, and distant laughter blended together.

Yujin was halfway through listening to his friend talk when—

“YUJIN OPPA!!”

The voice was small.

High.

Excited.

But the moment it reached his ears, his entire body froze.

His head turned immediately toward the direction of the voice, eyes widening slightly.

That voice…

He knew it instantly.

“Yujin oppa!!”

There it was again.

Without even thinking, Yujin’s eyes scanned the area near the school gate.

And then he saw her.

Jiyu Ahn.

His five-year-old little sister was standing near the entrance area, her tiny backpack hanging awkwardly behind her as she waved both of her small arms wildly in the air.

“OPPAAAA!”

She jumped up and down like a bouncing rabbit.

But what caught Yujin completely off guard… was who she was standing with.

Right in front of Jiyu, crouched down at her eye level, was a tall girl with long hair falling over her shoulders.

Her posture was gentle.

Her voice soft.

Her smile warm.

Jang Wonyoung.

Yujin’s heart skipped so hard it almost hurt.

She was crouching in front of Jiyu, holding the little girl’s hands while talking to her with a soft laugh.

Behind her stood two of her friends, covering their mouths while giggling.

“Aigoo… kiyowoo,” one of them whispered, watching Jiyu excitedly.

Jiyu was talking nonstop.

“I know my oppa! My oppa is very tall! He’s very cool! He play basketball!”

Wonyoung chuckled softly, her eyes curving into crescents as she listened.

“Really? Your oppa sounds amazing.”
