The morning light crept in slowly, pale and quiet, brushing across the bedroom walls. Yujin was already awake, lying on his side, watching the soft rise and fall of Wonyoung's breathing beside him. For a moment, he didn't move - just took in the stillness before the day started demanding things from them.
Her eyes fluttered open not long after, meeting his.
"Why are you staring at me first thing in the morning?" she mumbled, voice still thick with sleep.
"Checking if my wife is still real," he replied, serious for half a second before a smile tugged at his lips.
She rolled her eyes but scooted closer, her hand resting on his chest. "You're awake early."
"So are you."
They stayed like that for a moment - no rush, no noise, just the soft quiet of early morning. His thumb brushed lazily over her hand.
"We should take the boys out today," she said softly. "They're outgrowing half their clothes."
"Mall trip?" he asked.
She nodded. "And pajamas. Jiwo's sleeves are already too short."
Yujin sighed dramatically. "Our kids grow faster than my patience."
She laughed, leaning up to kiss his cheek. "You love it."
"...Yeah," he admitted.
Not long after, the calm house slowly shifted into morning energy.
Yujin headed to the boys' room first. Jiwo was already half-awake, hair messy, blinking up at him.
"Papa, today mall?"
"Yes. Fashion mission."
Jiwo immediately sat up.
Yujin picked out his outfit - a soft long-sleeve shirt and warm pants. He crouched in front of him, guiding his legs through one side at a time.
"Other leg. Unless you evolved overnight."
Jiwo giggled, wobbling as Yujin pulled the pants up and straightened his shirt collar. Then came the hoodie, which Jiwo insisted on choosing himself.
Minjae, meanwhile, stood in his crib, bouncing slightly. Yujin lifted him out, settling him on the changing mat.
"Good morning, boss," he said, kissing his cheek while slipping tiny socks onto his feet. Minjae grabbed his glasses immediately.
"Hey - not again," Yujin laughed, gently rescuing them.
By the time Wonyoung walked in, dressed and ready, she paused at the doorway.
Yujin had Jiwo standing in front of him while he adjusted the boy's sleeves, then he turned to gently zip Minjae's little jacket. The diaper bag sat open beside him, already half packed.
"You're doing everything," she said softly.
He shrugged. "Team effort. You handle snacks later."
She smiled, walking over to kiss Jiwo's head, then Minjae's.
A few minutes later, Yujin carefully lifted Minjae and secured him into the baby seat, adjusting the straps snugly. Minjae kicked happily, babbling nonsense.
Jiwo ran toward the door, shoes half on.
Yujin caught him mid-escape. "Sir. Footwear first, freedom later."
Wonyoung leaned against the wall, watching her husband juggle both kids with calm efficiency, her heart warm in that quiet, steady way love settles after years together.
