Dear Prison Diary,
My hands immediately shot up to my ears as I heard the sound protruding from all around me. An alarm that made my ears vibrate. The sound was very loud and annoying and I couldn't wait for it to stop.
I looked in front of me towards the metal door and remembered that Violet had left to who knew where. My jaw dropped and I pressed harder onto my poor aching ears.
"What the hell's going on!?" I shouted out, asking no one in particular since I was the only one in my cell.
'Wait a minute......Why am I still standing here?' I thought with a frown.
I quickly started making my way towards the door. The alarm was still pulsing through my brain and I wondered how the hell had Violet dealt with it every single day. As I made my way towards the door I was prepared to see Violet only a few meters away but I was sadly mistaken.
"Violet Wait!" I yelled out and looked forward seeing a swarm of dozens of other female prisoners either walking, running, or tripping trying to get to wherever they were going. They were all very diverse. Some were old, some were young, all different races you could imagine. They all had one thing in common though. They were all women.
After great hesitation, my legs started to move forward and my body stepped out of the cell only to be roughly bumped back in by a short but thick prisoner passing by.
"Watch it Bitch!!" She sneered at me while rushing passed me. I gasped and stared after her. 'Bitch?! Who's she calling a bitch? She bumped into me!' I thought silently in my head.
I regained my posture and waited for the right moment to enter the mob of prisoners. It was going to be tough since they all were moving at the same time. Some to the left, some to the right and that was a problem because I was trying to go straight. I was positive that that was the way Violet went and I was going to find her because I didnt want to stand alone in the prison.
So I stepped through the mob pushing and shoving passed them people. I was going to say "excuse me" but I figured there was no use since the women had no manners anyway. After pushing, shoving, and getting my foot stepped on numerous times I finally made it out of the swarm of prisoners. It was difficult but I had succeeded somehow. As I stepped out of the crowd I saw many metal tables spread out across the room. Some women were sitting down with a tray of food set down in front of them and some were still standing up waiting by a long line that led to a man who was serving the food
I understood everything then. It was the lunch hour.
Which made a lot of sense since Violet asked me if I was hungry and these women were swarming around the place like bees searching for honey. I couldn't blame them at all though. I was hungry too.
My stomach suddenly grumbled loudly and I held it in embarrassment. I needed to get some food in my stomach with or without Violet.
I looked over at the long line and started walking towards it, not without looking back over my shoulder to see if I could spot Violet. I would at without her but I still wondered where she has. It was like she disappeared into thin air.
Suddenly I bumped into something hard and muscely.
"You out of your damn mind?" I heard a deep rumbling voice say from behind me. 'A guard?' I thought in my head but all of the guards were standing, perimetered around the lunch area, not inside of it. So I knew it most ave been a prisoner but she could have fooled me. Just from hearing her deep voice I could already tell that she was a lot bigger than me and stronger than me. My first instinct, like most people, was to run. So I tried.
I geared myself up and started forward only to be grabbed harshly by the shoulder and spun around to see the beast that I had bumped into to. She was just like I predicted. Bigger than me and stronger than me. She looked like one of those body builders who kept working out even when their muscles were already popping out of their flesh. She had medium length straggly blonde hair that hung down her shoulders, tan rubbery skin, and a long scar stretching from her eyebrow to her chin.
Basically I was screwed.
"I...uh....d-didn't mean it?!" Was the best I could come up with. Her fingernails dug harder into my shoulder making me wince. My eyes dashed from side to side trying to find someone that was going to try and stop this but no one was paying attention. They all acted like it wasn't even happening. Some prisoners looked our way but they chose to avert their eyes. Even the guards stood off to the side pretending like they couldn't see.
"Whether you meant it or not no one bumps into me!" She yelled in my face and I almost gagged. The girl's breath was heavy and humid. It burned my poor eyes and I squinted them so they wouldn't be any more victim to it.
She rose her big meaty fist above her head and positioned it in front of me. My eyes widened in disbelief. She was going to beat me up because I bumped into her! She barely felt it though. I probably felt like a feather hitting her so why was it that big of a problem?!
The disbelief turned into fear that I swore to myself I would never have but I couldn't stop it. It was like every fearless bone in my body had broken and I was stuck with bones that were weak and dull. And it wasn't not fair.
She pulled her arm back some more ready for her fist to connect with my face. 'Oh please, guardian angel come save me!!' I pressed my hands together and prayed in my head.
"I dare you." A low menacing voice said from behind me.
I knew that low menacing voice. It was Violet.
The built blonde girl looked behind me at Violet in disbelief. Then she threw her head back cackling with laughter like a hyena high on acid. It was quite a disturbing sight.
Blondie was still gripping my shoulder but I managed to peak behind me to Violet who's face was nothing but serious and anything but joking. My eyes searched hers trying to get her attention so she could see the "what the hell are you doing?" look in them but her eyes kept glaring forward at the buff blondie.
"Oh, the crazy bitch came to save you huh?" Blondie said and I slowly looked at Violet to see her reaction but her face stayed stone stiff. She stepped in front of me pushing me away so she was now face to face with the big blonde. I stayed where I was and watched. I had no idea what was going on. Did they know each other? Did they have some unsettled beef? Was I still hungry? Yes.
Violet looked up at Blondie not even the least bit afraid and raised her eyebrow once again.
"If you're going to hit someone Skunk hit me." Violet said to the Blondie and my jaw nearly fell to the floor. This girl really was crazy!! She was going to take a punch for me from a woman with that many muscles. But why? By now everyone in the room was looking our way even the guards. 'So now yall pay attention?!'
"Here I'll make it easier for you." Violet said and tucked her shiny black hair behind her ear. She leaned in closer to Skunk. One pale side of her face in perfect view. She raised her eyebrow higher just to tip her off. Skunk started to breath heavier in anger her face turning red. She looked like an angry bull ready to charge.
Something inside me triggered. Worry. I felt worried but for what. Was I worried for Violet? 'My cellmate who I think is crazy! No, I can't be!' I thought.
"You asked for it!!" Skunk said interrupting my thoughts. She drew her fist back the same way and zoomed it towards Violet's face.
I couldn't watch anymore.
I covered my eyes with my hands before I heard the sound.
Smack!!
