Dear Prison Diary,
"Ms.Kristi?!" I shrieked in astonishment as the plump short woman came into view with a warm smile spread across her face.
My eyes grew wide in surprise finally adjusting to the blinding sun. The two guards let go of my arms and backed away, standing next to the wall and didn't bother us, probably already bored with two women in conversation.
I took her stature in, she looked exactly the same way she did when I last saw her at the facility. Still with her blue uniform on and still with her signature grey bun.
I wondered how out of place she looked while walking the trail all the way to the prison.
But wait, the prison was miles and miles away.
'How did she get here on foot?' I wondered in my head.
"H-How did you get here?" I asked her, trying to understand that she was actually there. My voice not calming down one bit, still shrieking at the top of my lungs.
"I took a cab Dear...they still have those you know." She said calmly with a chuckle and I found myself smiling with joy.
The warmth and brightness she brought into the cold and dark prison was missed.
We stared at each other for a long time but sooner or later her smile was replaced with a thin pressed line and her eyes grew watery.
"Oh Avalon..." She whispered walking closer to me and touched my cheek with her warm hand. I melted into it closing my eyes as my chin started to wiggle.
"You're so pale...and you've gotten so skinny." She whispered while poking my thigh and I giggled softly but it was short lived as I realized that she is in fact right.
Prison was changing me physically and I probably didn't look like the same Avalon from weeks prior.
"Ms.Kristi....I don't know why I did what I did...it was stupid and I-I just wish you wouldn't have to see me like this. I g-got Layna arrested too...so you m-must hate me for it and I-" A ball was forming in my throat and I was sputtering while tears started to spill from my eyes down my cheeks. That was when she cut me off.
"Shh Shh Shh" She shushed me and pulled me into her holding my head and stroking my long brown hair. I closed my eyes.
"We don't have to talk about it now Dear. We can discuss it all later because guess what?" She whispered to me and I frowned becoming confused. 'Discuss it later? How?' I thought.
"What?" I asked meekly in her arms opening up my eyes.
"Im taking you and Layna out of here Dear." She said excitedly and my eyes immediately cracked right open.
I jolted away from her, my eyes probably looking like saucers and she looked stunned.
I struggled to speak, not really knowing what to ask or say. Until finally I regained speech.
"Y-You're...I-I...and...what now?!"
Somewhat.
Ms.Kristi stared at me with a confused expression on her face. One that wanted to smile but frown at the same time.
"I said Im taking you and Layna out of here." She said again with more excitement expecting me to jump with joy that time.
But I didn't.
I stared at her as she confirmed what I thought I heard her say. I lifted my hand up and placed it on my forehead and let out a long sigh.
Now her face was totally focused on only one expression. Confusion. She wasnt struggling anymore. She was completely confused, not understanding my reaction to her news.
