Dear Prison Diary,
Before I could even gasp in surprise the strange man had placed his hand on my lower back pushing me in slightly.
My eyes widened and I was about to object or just simply curse this man out but the door to the room had already been pulled shut.
And locked.
Panic arose inside of me. It was like a cold shiver ran through my whole body. Locked inside a strange room with a strange man for some strange reason.
Not looking good.
"H-Hey what the hell! Why am I in here and w-why did you lock that door?!" I tried hard to stifle the panic in my voice but I failed miserably.
The man lifted his two hands up at me and on instinct I backed away about two feet. He must have seen the fear in my eyes because he backed away a step also.
I finally realized that he was raised his hands up in a calming matter as a way to relax me. "Relax Avalon no one's here to hurt you. My guards just brought you here so I could chat with you." He admitted calmly with a sincere smile on his face. I felt a sense of relief but it quickly faltered. There was still something about his face...his eyes...something.
Then I realized that he just said "my guards". As in his property 'Does he own this prison?' I started to remember the plaque that I saw outside this room and it all started to make sense.
"Do you own this place?"I asked suddenly totally ignoring his statements. He looked a little-taken aback but quickly recovered and the glint in his eyes returned.
He took a deep breath and stood up a little straighter as if about to give a speech he had given a million times.
"My name is Rus Cargale and yes you are correct I do own this place. In fact, I was the one who came up with the idea for this very prison." He said loudly and with great pride. I just stared at him like he was the most disgusting piece of dog poop on the sidewalk.
"Wow, thanks for that..." I muttered under my breath but still the room was so quiet that I was sure he heard me because he smirked a bit. I rolled my eyes and crossed my hands over my chest. A defense mechanism I often used.
"Hmm...that's how I'd expect you to react but you see..." He started to say before he began circling me while still talking which made me feel like a little girl about to get detention. "Woman...they need to learn how to behave and listen and also know their place. When it comes to a man's attention that a woman is not acting properly they get immediately sent here. Please don't think of it as a punishment but more of a..." He paused for several seconds. "A reward."
I scoffed so loud that it hurt my throat. 'Did this imbecile of a man really just utter those words? A reward? What kind of idiot is he?' I thought.
"A reward?! Are you insane? Trapping woman in a prison because they weren't acting like good little princesses at home reading a book is supposed to be a freaking reward?!" I said, my voice growing increasingly loud as I spoke.
The strange man paused and then stared for several seconds. The smirk on his face twitched a bit at its corner. He was obviously getting frustrated but tried hard not to show it.
"Yes. A reward Avalon because you're lucky we haven't killed you yet." He said in a calm but sinister voice.
I can't say that didn't catch me off guard. A lump that wasn't in my throat a before suddenly appeared and I had to swallow it or it would choke me. 'Kill us? Would they really kill us for committing a bunch of harmless crimes?' I thought
