"From this day on, Kai will be known as Inmate 037, and Vin will be known as Inmate 034."
The warden stood in silence, his expression unreadable.
A moment later, the heavy metal door behind them opened and a prison guard stepped inside holding two grey prison jumpsuits folded over his arms.
"Here are the items you requested, sir."
The guard handed the uniforms over before stepping back toward the door.
The warden walked up to Kai and Vin and held the uniforms out in front of them.
"Strip and put these on."
Kai glanced toward Vin for a second and noticed he obeyed without hesitation. After a brief pause, Kai followed his lead.
The moment they finished changing, heavy handcuffs were locked around their wrists.
Without saying another word, the warden walked toward the wall and tapped it twice. The entire surface lit up instantly.
A massive operating map of the prison appeared across the wall, revealing dozens of facilities connected through layers deep beneath Von City.
"My name is Warden M. I oversee Facility M."
He placed both hands behind his back before turning toward them again.
"Blackwater Prison is divided into twenty-six facilities. Each facility is controlled by its own Warden."
Warden M paused for a moment, maintaining steady eye contact with the two of them.
"The Wardens here outrank one another depending on their assigned facility. At the very top stands Warden A, the overseer of the most dangerous level within this prison."
The door behind them opened again.
A tall figure stepped into the room, and the atmosphere instantly shifted.
Kai felt the hairs on the back of his neck rise as both him and Vin unconsciously held their breath.
Without saying a word, the man walked toward Warden M, who handed him a set of files before silently stepping aside.
The man flipped through the pages for a few seconds before his eyes settled on Vin.
"Inmate 034. Threat level 4 out of 5."
His cold blue eyes shifted slightly.
"You will be transferred to Facility A."
He then looked toward Kai.
"Inmate 037. Threat level unknown."
A brief silence filled the room.
"You will remain in Facility M until further evaluation."
Kai studied the man carefully.
He stood well over two meters tall, his heavily built frame covered in old battle scars.
A long scar ran across his right eye, which narrowed slightly as he looked at them.
White hair rested over his shoulders, and his piercing deep blue eyes carried a presence everyone immediately recognized. Wind Clan.
Kai's expression tightened slightly.
'For someone from the Wind Clan to be stationed this deep within Blackwater Prison...'
Facility A had to hold monsters.
For the first time since arriving, Kai started to worry about Vin.
The two Wardens exchanged a few quiet words before Warden A finally turned around.
