"Thanks for everything," I heard Julian say, right after we finished up all the photographs John, the photographer we finally got the name of, wanted. I looked behind me and smiled as I saw Julian help him pack up on the beach.
"Yeah, thank you."
"It's my pleasure. I'll meet you guys on the dance floor!" He said, attempting to moon walk.
I couldn't contain my laughter. Julian joined in after he left. The sun was still setting, giving off an orangish glow. The water was crashing against each other, producing warm breezes, perfect for the summer time in Antigua.
"Merry Christmas," I heard Julian say. I turned around and gasped as he pulled out a black box.
"Julian, you don't have to..."
Julian clicked his tongue. "Nonsense. I got this for you, before everything. It just seems like a waste to not give it to you."
I shook my head as I continued to walk up the hill. "I really can't accept this. I would feel too bad."
Julian stopped me at the top of the hill, his hand softly resting on my elbow. "Please, just take it."
After much hesitation, I sighed and took the box from him, before placing it in my clutch. "I'll open it later. But right about now the first dance is about to start and I can't miss that."
"I wouldn't have it any other way."
After fulfilling our duties as the maid of honor and best man, we finally were able to sit down and eat. I was famished, eating anything and everything. I was at the front table that faced the crowd, reserved for the special people in the wedding. Noel and Scott we're going around to each table, thanking everybody personally for coming to their wedding. I rolled my eyes at the pair of them. Such modest people.
"More wine?" I heard Julian ask besides me.
I shook my head as I moved my rice to one side of my plate. "No, I don't think I should get tipsy tonight. One drink was my limit."
Julian chuckled before saying, "suit yourself."
I saw Tobias and Rachel sitting rather close to each other, both of them looking lost in thought as they stared at the swarm of people. I ached to know what was going through his head, to finally have glimpse to in what he was thinking. For once, I needed to know that I wasn't being lied to.
"Why aren't you sitting with Tobias?" Julian asked, dabbing his mouth with a napkin. "I hope it's because of me. Don't worry about it. I'm over it."
"I'm here because I have to be," I told him, showing him my name card that was placed in front of me, laughing a little. "They placed this here while we were still together I guess."
"Well it did just happen out of nowhere and suddenly."
I closed my eyes. Ouch, that hurt.
"Shit, I'm sorry," he said, placing a hand on my shoulder.
I shook my head and faced him. "No, I know I'm cruel. It's karma, it has to be. I mean what other reason would Tobias cheat on me?"
Julian frowned at me before scowling at Tobias. "He did what? That son of a bitch."
Julian got up, scraping his chair while doing so. His face was masked with anger and his hands were in fists. I quickly got up, stumbling on my feet while doing so. Julian quickly caught me as I fell forward. He looked concerned as he gripped my shoulders tightly.
