NOVEMBER
"Are you sure you need this?" I asked, scanning an umbrella holder.
"Yes, Reign. Just please scan everything on the list I gave you," she huffed, blowing her bangs out of her face.
We were in Home Goods completing her wedding registry. It was the first weekend in November and Noel was going crazy. She agreed to have the destination wedding in Antigua, but this only caused her more stress. Since she was nothing but a control freak she didn't allow anyone to help her, except for me of course. I tried to persuade her to hire a wedding planner, but she refused every time I brought it up. It would help her relieve some stress, but she complained and said she could handle planning a wedding herself in a month and a half. We'll see about that.
"Why couldn't you do this with Scott? This stuff is for the both of you," I reminded her while scanning a vase I'm pretty sure they'll never use.
"Because you're my maid of honor and this is what maid of honor's do." She dropped a pillow she was inspecting and cursed silently before picking it up. She had many things in her hands making her flustered. "We still have so much to do today. We have to check out flowers and taste the cakes. Oh and we have to look for dresses! How could I forget that?"
I stepped in front of her and took everything out of her hands. She reluctantly gave them up but finally allowed me to take them away. I put both of my hands on her shoulders and gave her a little squeeze.
"Noel, relax. Your wedding is going to be great. It would help if we had extra help you know." She shot me an angry look, but I continued to talk anyways.
"I understand, you want to do it yourself, but at least drag your fiancé to some of this! Like tasting the cake should be something you guys share and so should this," I said waving my scanner. I sighed and stepped back a little. "I know how much this wedding means to you. Especially since it's during the holidays, but you really need to take a deep breath and have a moment to yourself once in a while. Okay?"
She ran a hand through her hair and gave me a small smile. "See, this is why you're my best friend. You calm me down in seconds just by your words. The more I think about it the more I think you're right. I need to hire a wedding planner."
I beamed brightly at her and mentally thanked God. "Yes, thank you!"
"Hey," she replied, pretending to be hurt. I give her an apologetic look before handing her list back.
"Let's finish the registry then find some dresses, sounds good?"
"Sounds great," she cheered.

Noel had three bridesmaids, her two friends from college and me. She quickly texted them while we were still in Home Goods to meet us in L'Fay Bridal. She had a specific idea of the dresses we would wear. Since it was going to be during the Christmas time she had an idea of us wearing red dresses. She specifically told Scott to make the guys wear navy blue so that it would look nice when we took pictures.
"Red and navy blue just go together perfectly. Don't you think Charlotte?" Noel asked while flipping through different wedding dresses.
Charlotte nodded her head eagerly, her blonde hair bobbing as she does. I didn't like any of Noel's friends. They were the type of people you would find at the country club emptying their dad wallets. Her other bridesmaid was Rachel. I knew Rachel but not enough to consider my friend.
"Definitely. It would look even more magical since we're going to be on the beach."
I rolled my eyes and slumped further in my chair.
