Song for this chapter is One and Only by Adele c:
I woke up from my slumber feeling very dehydrated. Tobias's arm was wrapped around my waist protectively as if I would leave if it wasn't placed there. I tried to move his arm softly, but that only resulted in me waking him up.
"What's wrong?" He asked, getting up at once. He leaned on one elbow while keeping his other arm wrapped around me.
His hazel eyes looked alarmed as he glanced at my body, looking to see if I was safe. His brown hair was tousled messily and I almost melted at the sight of him. The way he was looking at me, so raw and filled with love, made me want to pin him on the bed and make love again.
"You're not leaving, are you?" His voice low and raspy. His hazel eyes bore into mine and I couldn't think of a reason to ever leave him.
I shook my head. "No, I just needed some water."
He sighed with relief before nodded faintly. "I'll get you some."
With one last look he got out of bed, wearing nothing I might add, and went to retrieve my water. I could hear his footsteps patter against the wood floor and I closed my eyes. How could I deny that this felt so right? That this is where I needed to be?
I felt the bed shift under me and saw Tobias holding out a glass of water for me. I sat up a little a took a long gulp, enjoying the cool water flowing through my throat.
"Thank you," I whispered, handing him the almost empty glass.
He put it on his side table before resting his head back on his pillow. I followed his suit and stared back at him.
"What time is it?" I asked, yawning.
"A little after four," he replied, his eyes beginning to droop. "Don't leave in the middle of the night, okay?"
I cuddled closer to him until our bodies seemed like one. "There's nowhere I rather be."
I saw Tobias smile before planting a small kiss on my forehead. "Sweet dreams, sweetheart."
When I woke up again it wasn't from thirst. It was because I was entirely too hot. I fluttered my eyes opened and saw Tobias's head resting directly on my bare chest. Both of his legs were tangled in a mess with mine while his arms were pinning me down.
He really didn't want me to leave.
As much as I enjoyed holding Tobias I was extremely too hot. I knew if I moved just a little bit he would wake up considering he was such a light sleeper. I weighed my options. I could either continue being a creep and look at Tobias sleep or I could be stupid and ruin this moment. I think the choice was pretty clear.
He looked like a little sleeping bear resting on my chest. His mouth was slightly opened giving him an angelic look. He was beautiful, there was no doubt about it. Even with his scars and bruises he was by far the handsomest guy I have ever seen. I noticed the swelling was almost nonexistent around his eye and it was beginning to heal. There was a yellowish tint around his eye proving this.
I weaved my fingers through his hair, gently massaging his head. I felt his head scoot closer onto my chest and his arms tighten around me as a result.
"Tobias," I whispered softly, still stroking his hair. "Wake up sleepyhead."
Tobias grunted in response. I rolled my eyes at him. He really was acting like a bear now.
"I'm hot," I whined, trying to push him back a bit. Tobias continued to ignore me and dozed back into his sleep.
I huffed out in defeat. I conjured up all my strength and managed to push him off of my chest, briefly, before he decided it was a good idea to continue using my body as a pillow. His head then rested on my stomach while his arms were tucked in either side of us.
"Tobias, why are you being so difficult?" I complained.
"If I move then you'll leave."
My heart hammered in my chest by his words. He finally looked up at me groggily, his hair in a tangled mess.
"And I don't want you to leave."
I placed my hand on his cheek, using my thumb to caress him subtly. "What happened last night doesn't change anything. Spending one night together doesn't magically wash away all the doubts and insecurities that I have."
"Then let me wash them away," he pleaded, placing his hand over mine on his cheek. "Stay another day."
I bit my lip and shook my head. "I can't I have to go bac-"
"Back to Julian?"
His face instantly changed to an expressionless look. I knew what I was doing was wrong and believe me, I hated myself for doing it.
"Yes and no. I want to be with you Tobias, but I just can't break up with him now. Not before Noel's wedding."
"It's better than cheating on him," he replied, leaning back on his side of the bed.
"Which is exactly why what happened last night cannot happen again," I replied sternly, facing him. "I mean it. Just friends for right now."
"Friends who do this?"
I felt his mouth press against my neck and I gasped in response, sitting up straight. I saw Tobias smiling at me smugly, clearly amused by my reaction.
"N-n-no," I stuttered, distancing myself away from him. "Definitely not that type of friends."
"Ahh," he replied, clicking his tongue. "We're this kind of friends."
I looked at him confused, wondering what he was going to do next. I realized then he was gazing at my naked chest. I grabbed his comforters and covered myself at once. I could only imagine how red my cheeks were.
"You're infuriating," I huffed, still feeling embarrassed.
"So you've told me," he replied, still smiling smugly. "Look if you're going to go back to him can't you at least stay for a couple of hours?"
I bit my lip and stared at him. I did want to stay with him. What was the harm is staying a couple of hours after I just spent the night with him?
