Listen to the song on the side! It matches the mood of this chapter.

"Jane Doe, multiple fractures to the neck. We splinted her leg on the field, but it needs critical care."

"John Doe. He was found approximately seven yards away from the scene. Sustained multiple injuries to his skull and spine. Unstable breathing patterns. We managed to find a heartbeat but it is very shallow."

Siren noises filled my ears and I blinked rapidly. I tried to raise my head, but I soon found that it was strapped down. My head was pounding, but that didn't stop me from trying to get up.

"Ma'am, you've been in an accident," a male voice spoke, his face coming into my vision. "We're going to take care of you; try to stay calm. Do you remember your name?"

I swallowed the lump in my throat and I tasted blood. I could feel my heart beat quickly as a result. What happened? Why was my head strapped down? Why was I tasting blood? What about my baby?

Then I remembered the accident. I remembered being in Tobias's arms one second and then a car swerving on the curb- on the sidewalk! Who would drive on the sidewalk where people were clearly standing?

"Ma'am if you can understand me blink once."

I blinked once, hard, and the next thing I knew my gurney was being rushed into the hospital. I heard chatter around me, but I couldn't make out what they were saying. Bright lights were being flashed in my eyes and I winced. I tried to use my hand to use my hand to shield the light, but I found that my hands were restrained down too.

Free me! I wanted to yell. I'm not some prisoner!

"She's hyperthermic. Book an OR stat," a female voice command. "And be careful with her neck. She could easily be paralyzed."

Paralyzed? No no no, this was all a mistake. I was just outside a restaurant with Tobias, about to go home. We were just minding our own business, talking about our future, and now I didn't even know if he was alive.

I saw someone place a mask over my face. I tried to fight it off by moving my lips, only I wasn't. Maybe they were right, I was paralyzed. At least that's how I felt. But I needed to know about Tobias. I needed to know that he was alright, that our baby was alright. As much as I fought to stay awake I couldn't keep up and the next thing I knew I was falling into a deep sleep.

"Oh my god, Reign!"

I tried to open my eyes, but they felt too heavy. I could hear soft sobs come from my side, but I couldn't make out who it was. Was it Noel? Or was it Julian? I couldn't tell. The only thing I knew was I was extremely tired and sleep was calling my name, once again.

"No, I can't," a shaky voice said.

"Yes, you can. She chose you for a reason. Medically, you're responsible for her life."

"Are you really asking me if I should take my best friend off of life support? It's only been a week! She... She could be fighting for her life right now and you just want me to pull the plug on her?"

There was a sigh. "If she was fighting we would've seen something, anything. But it's evident she's given up. If we go through with this now she could be a valuable asset for many people looking for a donor-"
