Chapter 29

"Presenting Mister and Missus Estanislao! The newlyweds!"

We heard a roar of claps and cheers.

Lumabas kami ni Jake from where we were hiding to face everyone sa huge ballroom.

It was impossible to see anything. It was so bright with all the lights pointed at us and my senses were overpowered by the cheers and the song I'm Glad You Came by The Wanted playing. Dumagdag pa ang confetti at ang bumulusok na pop confetti. I busied myself in getting confetti out of my hair, dress and face.

"Babe, smile," sabi ni Jake so I beamed. I flashed my nicest smile.

"Ganda talaga ng asawa ko!" sigaw nya. Natawa ako. I knew he was making me comfortable. I didn't know I wasn't okay with big crowds. Not that I get scared or overwhelmed, it's more annoyance than anything. I found it too much.

"Think about the amount of sex we'll be having tonight, yun pa lang hindi na mawawala ang ngiti mo," he added. Sinubukan ko syang kurutin sa pagkapilyo nya pero makapal din ang mga suot nya.

Iwas finally able to look around nang nakaupo na kami. Our parents were happy and one could definitely tell that.

His parents were actually too happy. His mom and dad, that I will now refer to as mommy and daddy, were extremely proud of their son. Siguro talaga, akala nila, hindi na mag-aasawa ang dating malikot sa babae na panganay nilang lalaki. And of course, first wedding ng isa sa mga anak nila.

Masaya rin ang parents ko. I'm finally settled with someone and they approve of the person. Playboy man sa babae si Jake noon, nagustuhan naman nila ang paghihintay at pagmamahal nya sa'kin. I wasn't perfect and they knew that and they liked the fact that he still accepted me and loved me despite my shortcomings as a partner.

Everyone else was enjoying the reception and the other things that was going on than focusing on why they were present at our celebration. Janah did a great job in making the night interactive. Parang birthday party ng bata sa dami ng activities.

There were four photo booths in different themes, or should I say eras - Medieval, 20s, 90s and a normal one. There was also a video area where people could film their messages for us. There was a message board as well where they could place their well-wishes in an envelope to post there.

I saw that Ate Lily was eyeing Justine and Jeff and I saw Chris scouting, looking around for girls.

"Look at your brother," sabi ko kay Jake.

"I'm trying not to," dismiss naman ni Jake.

May galit pa ata sa kapatid dahil late sa gising si Chris kanina. Nag-alala din kasi sila kung makaka-attend pa sya. 

"I think Lily is over Jeff," pansin ko.

"I know her. That's not her accepting-her-former-lover's-family face," dismiss din ni Jake sa Ate Lily nya.

I looked at my cousin Jeff and his wife Justine. Mukha namang okay na sila. They seemed normal and there was no tension between them. Juliana looked cute in her mini-gown. Mental note to self: Magpapicture with Juliana. And then probably Juliana and Jake! That'd be so cute!

Our pictures were taken with most of the guests while everyone's dining. Everyone was able to wish us their best wishes personally which was nice. Some were giving us cash gifts as well. I didn't know how it usually goes kaya nahihiya lang akong tinatanggap ang mga yun or binibigay kay Jake.

The emcee quieted everyone down after a good hour of dining. She welcomed everyone again and informed that we were going to start the program. "We would like to invite on stage the groom's sister, Lily Estanislao, the Maid of Honor or the Best Woman, to share a few words."
