Valentine's Day blended family

Draco woke up to a dozen red roses on his nightstand and a note that said "I hired a sitter for the kids, enjoy the day off" alongside two spa coupons. he checked the time and marched downstairs in his pajamas to confront Harry. He lost his nerve when he saw Harry downstairs helping James, Albus, and Scorpius fold valentines day cards for their classmates. He always loved seeing Harry in dad mode, especially how he treated Scorpius just like he treated his own kids. They made a beautiful blended family except for one small problem: Harry and Draco weren't together. Harry had James and Albus with Ginny before amicably parting ways, Harry had the kids most of the time due to Ginny's job and he had hired Draco as a live in nanny. "Draco, did you get the flowers daddy picked out for you?" James asked.
Draco nodded "they're very pretty" he said as he went to the coffee machine making himself a coffee that was mostly cream and sugar.
"It's not too much is it?" Harry asked.
"You didn't have to hire a babysitter for the kids, I'm already their Nanny, no need to outsource my job"
"You'll receive full pay. I didn't want to rush you at the spa" Harry said in a professional tone.
Draco hated when Harry talked to him like he was an employee, even if it was the most accurate description of their relationship. "I still have to come home to watch Scorpius-"
"Nope, I hired the babysitter for all 3 kids" Harry said "so you enjoy your day at the spa"
"How much do I owe you for the sitter-"
"Nothing, it's part of my gift" Harry smiled at Draco as he finished making pancakes for the kids and served them their breakfast
Draco was of course furious about Harry's gift. It was entirely too romantic and it reminded Draco that they weren't a couple. Draco ate breakfast with the kids and sent them off to school via the floo network.
"You're mad at me" Harry started once the kids were gone.
"Red roses, even you can't be too dense to know what that means"
"I know what giving someone red roses means..." Harry said.
"Then why did you get me red roses!" Draco demanded.
"Because... I-" Harry tried to say I love you, but the words caught in his throat
Draco crossed his arms impatiently "because what Potter?"
"I like you" Harry managed to say.
"Red roses don't mean I like you. You should have gotten some shade of pink"
"They were sold out of pink?" Harry lied.
Draco knew it was a lie. Red roses always sold out on Valentine's Day, Harry must've ordered the red roses in advance, but pretending to believe the lie was easier than facing the truth.

When Harry got home the kids were in their rooms and Draco was waiting for him in a sexy red dress, with Harry's favorite dinner on the table and homemade treacle tart for dessert. Harry's face turned red when he saw Draco. "Wow... You look amazing, do you have a date tonight?" Harry asked
"Maybe" Draco responded "I'm still waiting for him to ask me out"
Harry nods "um, is there a reason you can't ask him out?" He asked "like a complicated relationship..."
"He's an alpha, it's his responsibility to ask out an omega like me"
"So if you liked an alpha you wouldn't tell them?"
"I would, I'd make him a nice dinner and his favorite dessert, and if he didn't ask me out after that I'd move on"
"What if he doesn't want to ask you out-"
"I can handle a simple rejection, it's his loss" Draco got up and started to walk away.
"No, I mean if he wanted to ask you out but couldn't"
"Well what's stopping him" Draco crossed his arms.
"Like if he's in a position of power over you and couldn't afford to loose the relationship he currently has with you"
"He'll have to take that risk, but I promise the reward will be worth it" Draco said as he approached Harry.
"We are talking about us aren't we?" Harry asked, complying pulling Draco out of the moment.
"Yes Potter, we're talking about us" Draco said.
Harry smiles and kisses Draco, pulling him close by the waist. Draco soon pulled away and whipped around "James. I told you to stay in your room with Albus and Scorpius!" He says pulling Harry's invisibility cloak off of James, who had been completely concealed by the cloak, but hadn't been quiet enough.
"But I wanna see what you and daddy are doing!" James looked up at Draco.
Draco shook his head "we're doing boring adult things" he said "nothing that would interest you" he reassured James
"But has daddy made you our new mommy yet?" James asked
Both Draco and Harry turn red "James, that's not an appropriate question to ask" Harry said gently
"But you said-"
"Who wants a cookie!" Harry said quickly, knowing James would echo his thoughts about Draco. Albus and Scorpius had asked him several times to marry Draco and make them officially siblings and Harry had responded by explaining how relationships took time, which ultimately led to him telling his kids all about his plans to woo Draco and hopefully marry him someday.
James nodded eagerly and Harry got 3 cookies from the cookie jar "you have to stay in your room, and the other cookies are for scorp and Albus"
James nods and took the cookies before going back to his room.
"Now where were we" Harry said leaning in and kissing Draco softly.

they ate dinner and had dessert, then Harry led Draco to the couch and turned on the television which naturally was on James's and Albus's favorite channel. Draco never let the boys watch the muggle TV, as he was relatively fearful of all modern muggle technology. Harry changed the channel to a different channel that way playing some romantic movie rather than cartoons. Draco sat next to Harry on the couch and leaned his head on Harry's shoulder, glaring at the TV as it played.
Harry sighs "it's just a television, it won't hurt you"
"It's some form of dark magic used by muggles" Draco argued
"It's electricity, not dark magic" they had this conversation several times about several different appliances, Draco wouldn't so much as touch a light switch even though Harry's house had full muggle electricity. Harry also wasn't sure how Draco felt about modern plumbing as opposed to enchanted water fountains, so he hadn't said anything about how exactly he got hot water into the house.
"Electricity is evil" Draco stated
"It is not. Just give the tv a chance-"
Draco shook his head "that's exactly what you said about the microwave! And it shocked me"
"That was just static electricity from the carpet!"
"See, electricity, it's evil"
Harry kisses Draco's forehead "you're lucky you're cute" he said.
"It's not luck, it's carefully planned genetics" Draco explained
"The Malfoy family has been very selective about our mates to ensure perfect children, and we'll have to be very careful to not ruin those genes."
"Is that why you married Astoria?" Harry asked.
Draco looked down at the mention of his deceased wife. "Yeah, but I learned to love her, and who I really wanted to be with was already married"
"Oh? Because I'll fight who you wanted to marry for you"
"No, you'll get hurt" Draco looked up at Harry.
"I am an auror, and pretty good at defense against the dark arts"
"He's an idiot for rejecting you, I could easily take them in a fight"
"I never asked him out" Draco sighs
"I could still probably beat him in a fight-"
"Harry, you can't beat yourself in a fight"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
