26 October 2015
Okay, so I'm writing this on a plane because it has wifi. :D!!! (Oh, and it's part of it, because I didn't manage to finish it..)Anyway, here are the events for the past 3 days(in USA timing). So....yeah.
25-26 October 2015
We went to NY Times Square.(I know, it's pretty lame, but my memory is a bit fuzzy...) Times Square isn't what you expect it is. You know when you see pictures of tall stone buildings in Times Square, it's only the buildings in the financial district. Where we are staying is the middle of TS, and there's one building there full of street art. We also visited the 9/11 site and the 9/11 museum. At the 9/11 museum, they pretty much stored everything that got to do with the 9/11 tragedy. We also learned more about al-quaeda and how they caused those tragedies, what happened while al-quaeda was still at work and the aftermath of the tragedies. People also gave tribute to the museum even though it has long passed. There are also places for people to hang tributes like the Last Column and the Statue of Liberty outside the fire station which sends firemen to the World Trade Center that time. The museum also gave us an introduction in the museum map. It's the photo up there. For those who can't read it, here it is:
Welcome
The National September 11 Memorial Museum at the World Trade Center bears solemn witness to the terrorist attacks of September 11,2001 and February 26,1993. The Museum honors the nearly 3,000 victims of these attacks and all those who risked their lives to save others. It further recognizes the thousands who survived and those who acted with extraordinary compassion in the aftermath. Demonstrating the consequences of terrorism on individual lives and its impact on communities a at the local, national, and international levels, the Museum attests to the triumph of human dignity over human depravity and affirms an unwavering commitment to the value of human life.
My twin bro told me that from "the Museum attests" to the "value of human life", that section was too "chim" for him. Translation(those are his kind of meaning, not mine): his brain sort of exploded while reading that section.
Oh, and the surprise for our birthday? It was actually the Niagara Falls but my mum got confused between "New York" and "Niagara Falls".
Anyway, after coming right back home, my parents have to light a fire under me and rush me to go for the excursion which was on today(I have been too busy with the sights to forget about the excursion...) only to find out that the excursion was cancelled.
-_- Okay.........
