Mia
POW . POW . POW
"Shit run Mia!" Ramina shouted from behind her. I was never one to be on the track team back in school simply because I couldn't run for shit. I was wearing these slippery ass boots that Ramina told me not to wear but I refused to put on gym shoes.
POW. POW.
A bullet barreled past the left side of my face and my heart stopped for a second when I noticed it hit Ramina in the leg. "Fuck Ramina!" I yell and speed up to help her continue running. "Ugh! You heavy as hell." I held her up on my shoulder and dragged her along. I just kept thinking that I wasn't gone make it outta here alive. Finally we got behind a nearby car and I took a moment to examine her bloody leg.
"I need to go to the hospital Mia, I don't wanna lose my leg." She sobbed. I rubbed my head trying to think of a solution.
"Wait. I have an idea." I silently prayed to God that this would work. I pulled at the passenger side door of the car we were hiding behind and to our luck the door opened. I climbed in but stayed low because the guys who were after us was in the area. Once I was in the driver seat I begin to hot-wire the car. I grabbed the red and brown wires and tapped them together. "Hurry up and get in." I whisper to Ramina who was stilling sitting outside beside the car crying. "If this works I'm hauling ass outta here. Whether you in the car or not." I say and continue to tapped the wires. Sparks flew finally as Ramina was closing the door and the car engine roared. "Thank God." I put the car into drive and pounded the accelerator. Once the guys heard and saw the car they immediately began firing shots at us. We ducked as I continued out of the crowded lot. The back window shattered as a bullet passed through it. I see a tall man in a face mask appear on the right side of the car. "DUCK RAMINA!" I grab her head and push it down right in time before the bullet shot clean into the passenger side window. I ducked too and prayed that I was going the right way. When I looked back up we had gotten out of the lot of the warehouse and I took a sharp left onto a busy road. "I hope they don't follow us." I bit my lip nervously and continue eyeing the side mirrors. There was enough cars on the road to blend us in but I didn't want to take no chances. I rushed Ramina to the nearest hospital she gave me the directions too. "Alright. Come on." I lift her out the car and carry her inside. I had to admit this was a surprise to me that I could actually lift her after barely being able to help hold her up. Doctors and nurses rushed her to the Emergency Room and I waited in the lobby until they were done with her.
"...I can't believe this shit!" I pace back and forth in the hospital room after they had gotten the bullet out of her leg. She had lost a lot of blood so they were keeping her here at the hospital for awhile. "This did not just happen." I continue to pace and bite my knuckles.
"Mia chill out. They ain't finna run up in this hospital if that's what's bothering you." She slides up in the bed.
"I'm not worried about them running up in this hospital Ramina. I'm worried about them coming after me anytime they feel like it. My best friend dated one of them kinds of boys and they just don't let shit go. Something told me not to trust you this time. I had a bad feeling." I admit.
"Who would of known. I watched the place all night and nobody was supposed to make a drop or pickup today. At least that's what I heard." She defends her decision.
"Plans can changed and that's exactly what happened. Fuck!" I rub my head.
"We been stealing they shit for months and we had a schedule. I was only going by schedule Mia." She continues.
"Ramina just stop. You still trying to defend your decision while you sitting up in the hospital."
"Well what you want me to say?" I take a deep breath and get up from the chair I sat down in.
