Monopoly

Here I stand
On this square
This meaningless space

Others do the same
They stand here
In this meaningless place

We are fooled by adrenaline
The wanting to win
This game we call the perfect life
Is what normal has always been

But now I feel I fall
Just behind the others
Why do I feel so small
So bland
Among the people succeeding
In this Candyland

Wrong plays I have made
Mistakes hurt me now
The past is a burden
That's why I fall down

One wrong role and your savings are lost
That reputation you once built
Now in the past

How can I avoid drawing that card
The one I know so well
It locks me up in jail
And again I begin to fail
