ROSS

I wake up with a start, twisted in pain and sweating. Since I've moved on this room this afternoon after Rydel gave me this medecine, this stomach ache appeared, and did not diseapper yet. I fell asleep a few minuted ago, but I'm awake once again. I whimper in pain and take my belly in my hands. I'm glad I swaped room. Ryland would've asked too many questions. I close my eyes tightly, and take a deep breath to calm down. A shiver runs down my spine. How can I be so cold? We're in the middle of summer...

I'm overcome by a retch. That's it. I'm getting out of this room. I somehow get out of bed, grab the t-shirt at my feet and put it on. Too bad if I'm all sweaty. I walk slowly to the bathroom, so I won't wake the girls up, open the door and lock myself. I'm shaken by a retch, more violent than the previous one. I rush toward the toilets and hang onto it like my life depends on it. And I start throwing up.

Once I'm done, I wipe the corner of my lips, shaking like a leaf and full of shame. I hate this. I hate feeling so weak and vulnerable. I get up on my feet carefully, feeling dizzy. Passing out is seriously the last thing I need. I'm about to flush, when a red liquid catch my eyes. Blood. I threw up blood.

I step backwards, freaking out, and bang on the sink. I turn around and see myself in the mirror. I'm so pale. But that's not the worst.

My eyes are getting blue. This light blue, like these eyes the Infected have.

"No... No... Please, it can't be happening..." I gasp. I begin touching my eyes, in shock. I close them and open them again, but I'm not dreaming.

The Infection has started.

I back up, frightened by this new me, and quickly get out of the bathroom. I rush in my room.

I don't have any choice now, I must leave. Before I would be too dangerous.

I turn my room upside down, looking for a backpack. Once I found one, I fill it half with clothes, shaken by a bout of coughing. I stop, and look around, worried. Nobody seemed to hear me. I sigh in relief, and carry on.

I grab a pen and a paper on the desk, and write a little note, explaining my departure. I don't want to worry them more. How would you react if a morning like the others, your brother has disappeared?

Once I'm done, after a lot a crossing-out and tries, I put it on the desk, and go out of the room to go to the living room. I take everything that is useful. Food, munitions, first aid kit. I'm probably going to be fully infected soon, and they'd be useless, but who knows. I grab a gun on a drawer of a furniture when the room is suddenly lit up.

"Ross? Is that you?"
I freeze. I turn around and see Rydel standing at the door frame, with messy hair.

"What are you doing? It's 2am." She rubs her eyes still sleepy. I close my bag, deciding to ignore her. I can't me reishner to look at her.

"Ross what are you doing? Are you okay?" She repeats. I can hear the worry in her voice. She should've noticed I was shaking and sweating like crazy.

"I'm leaving." I simply say, looking for batteries for my flashlight.

"What do you mean?" She comes closer to me.

"I'm leaving, end of the discussion. Don't ask questions."

"You're not going anywhere Ross." I feel she tries to grab my forearm. Without hesitation, I take the gun and point it at her.

"Stay away Rydel." I calmy say. She backed up of numerous steps, fear on her face. What monster did you become Ross? To dare threathening your own sister?
