ROSS
"We go straight to the common room okay guys? We must be discreet."
"Why?" Peter asks, causing Ellington to stop him from opening the front door. His hand remains still on the knob.
"We need to talk about... Well, you know."
"Well, I don't." Peter mimics my friend's voice. Ellington gives him that look. You know, the one saying "you're kidding right?". I love when he puts this face on, an exasperate one. It's pretty funny.
Yeah, I'm a really good friend I swear.
"If you're talking about what we just witnessed, I don't see the problem. We gotta talk about it with everyone."
"I never said we won't. I just want to do like... A debriefing? We discussed on the way, but I think we should consider it more. Decide what to do. Is that okay for everyone?"
I nod along with the others, and we quietly walk in once Ell opened. As we progress in the corridor, I check the rooms, which seem empty. The others must be in their bedroom upstairs. We follow Ellington after he barricaded the entrance, and enter the common room, where they found me.
Nobody's here neither. I'm about to sit at the table, since my right leg started throbbing after so much run and walk. I've had enough for today. But Heather gently grabs my forearm instead, a reassuring smile on her face, and she leads me toward another chair, while the others stand next to the table at the center of the room, after they dropped their weapons in a corner. Ellington puts the helmet on it, and then casually lean on, his hands flat on the table.
He clears his throat for no apparent reason as Heather makes me sit, and goes search a chair for herself. I decide to not pay attention to him, who began talking with the others with a serious expression. I look back at Heather when she sits in front of me."We're going to check your leg, right? How do you feel?"
"It hurts a little. Okay, a lot." I add after she gave me that look." But I walked a lot today. I think that's why."
"There's no need to lie you know? It's normal that it hurts. You got stabbed."
"Thanks for reminding me." Heather playfully rolls her eyes, but start rolling the clothe up to above my knee anyway.
Fortunately the pants they got me is loose enough and I won't have to take it off. It'd be embarrassing to do so in front of so many people. Okay, I've already been in boxers in front of her and Ellington, and the others are boys too. But still. I need my privacy.
I constat with horror there is a little blood stain on the bandage, right on my wound. Heather looks calm curiously, and she takes it off slowly.
"Don't worry, it happens. I'll just change it. I had to put some disinfectant on anyway."
"Are you sure? Not that I don't trust you or anything, but you're not a doctor." Heathers dryly chuckles at my comment.
"I'm like... what we could call a nurse here. So yeah, I'm sure."
"Sorry." I look down blushing. I didn't mean to offend her. She sighs as she's done.
"See?" She points at the stitches, which are still in place. I also gladly notice it has a normal color, well, for this kind of thing at least. It's not yellow-green, if you see what I mean, like it was infected.
"I'll go get everything we need, okay?" She smiles putting her hand on my shoulder as she gets up. I nod slightly, and she leaves me. I take the opportunity to overhear eavesdrop what the guys are talking about.
