Chapter 44

It must be said I published this yesterday, but when I woke up tday, I saw Wattpad decided to be annoying 😑

ROCKY

I nervously bite my thumb nail as I bounce my leg up and down. We left the motel, and they installed me at the end of the trailer, so I couldn't escape apparently. Just in case I would jump off the truck you know. I'm not even kidding, I heard them talked about this. It's stressful to not know what will happen to me when we are back at the camp, but not to the point to flee and avoid Davis. He doesn't scare me, unlike them.

They all stare at me, and it makes me feel uneasy. They're still shocked about the ambush, and everything I think. They haven't noticed I was there, and I did their job better than them. Never leave someone behind. I can't really blame them though. You're attacked, someone come here to save you, you don't pay attention to the ones left behind.

But I did.

That's why I don't get. Okay, I wasn't supposed to quit the camp, and sneak out with the patrol. But I shouldn't be punished, or whatever they're going to do with me. I saved this man. I haven't done anything wrong. I have no clue how he is doing now since he is in another truck, but last time I saw him, he was alive. Shocked, but alive.

Now they all stare and talk about me, like I was some sick man. Most of them give me sympathetic look though. The others seem emotionless. Anyway, no matter how they look at me, I just wish I was burried deep down in the ground, somewhere else. I squirm on my seat and close my eyes sighing. Boss' sentence keeps on echoing in my head, the sentence scaring the hell out of me.

You're in big trouble kid.

I just wanted to help.

It's seem an eternity pass, before the truck eventually slow down. Once we're fully halted, I hear some shouts, and a few second later, we drive again. I begin squirming uncomfortably even more, as I realise the moment I dread approach.
I don't dare to look outside, while the soldiers get off one by one. I'm soon the only left. I don't move, not knowing what to do. And to tell the truth, a part of me doesn't want to go out.

"Hey kid." I turn my head toward the voice. Boss is standing at the trailer frame, his hands leaned on each sides. I remain quiet.

"It's time to go now." He insists when he observes I'm far from buldging. After an opressing silence, I eventually decide to speak.

"What are you going to do to me?"

"I'm not the one who decide." Boss says after he thought about my question. "Could you just... Get off here? It'll be fine." He then add it's a promise. Probably because of my upset look. I don't know why, but I decide to trust him. He's harsh when he gives orders, but his voice is reassuring in a way. So I slowly move from my spot, and follow him outside.

I barely set foot on the path that pairs of arms grips me firmly. I gasp in surprise and look up, to see soldiers holding me with blank expression. They start pushing me to make me move, and I attempt to prevent them to do so by pushing myself backward. I then look toward Boss that I spotted in front of us, completely distraught.

"You promised it'll be fine! You promised!" I cry out, still struggling to get out of their grasp. He halts, and slowly turns toward me. He makes a sign to the soldiers, who stop walking, but hold me still anyway. We longly stare in each other eyes, and I know by this moment whatever he will say, he'll be sincere.

"I'm sorry, it's the rules. Just... Be obedient and follow us, and it'll be okay."

"I don't need to be held, I'll walk by myself please!"
