The doctor came in and told them it was time to leave. They nodded and smiled and waved goodbye. My parents and came in. I just stood and watched as they talked about how I was and stuff. I hardly knew what they were talking about. I just stared around the room and occasionally pretended to listen. I glanced out the window once or twice and saw all my friends begging Green Day for autographs. Their parents occasionally tried to hold them back, but they just gave up. The guys sighed their stuff and took pictures and then they were playing 20 questions.

I laughed at my friends and went back to pretending to understand what they were talking about. They stopped talking and the doctor told me that he was going to give me a cat scan. I nodded as they took the IV out of my arm and put a little band-aid thing over it and rolled me to a room. I got off the bed and jumped on the cat scan platform thing. I still had on the same clothes as yesterday, but they were all black and burnt.

They told me to close my eyes and I did as a red light appeared in front of my eye lids. I stood still. I waited until it stopped and the platform thing moved out of the scanning tube.

They rolled me back into my room and told my parents that they would be right back. "Thank you," said mom. I know what you're thinking-'What no, doc this or doc that'-well, REALITY CHECK! No one calls their doctors doc, or at least where I'm from no one does. So, when people but that in their books, NO ONE DOES THAT! Unless, you're like a super cheesy person.

I waited for the doctor to get back. My mom was on her phone, obviously telling everyone she knows about me almost burning to death. I hated when my mom did that. It's like, excuse me! What if I didn't want everyone to know? It's non of their fucking business! It was probably going to be all over the news. Especially since I was only 12. How long have I been asleep? What if it was already on the news? How long had I been in the hospital?

"Mom?" I asked.

"Yes, sweetie?" She said.

"How long have I been asleep?" I asked.

"Only a couple of hours." Good.

"So what time is it?"

"Seven in the morning," said dad.

So, if we were at the mall for 3PM I slept for 17 hours. I reached for the remote and turned on the TV. It was the same lady that was on last time for Green Day. She was in the studio with some other guy. "So, John, do you remember our little Green Day story?"

The other guy, I guessed John, nodded, "I do, Samantha. Well, I believe we have something to say about the little girl in the lucky family they are staying with, don't we?"

My mom and dad came over to my bed so they could see what was going on. Samantha nodded, "Yes, yes we do, John. It appears the local mall in Knoxville was burnt down."

"Do we know the cause of it, Samantha?"

"Yes, yes we do, John. It seems that one of the cafeteria stoves were on for too long and it started a fire. The fire spread very fast and-" John interrupted her.

"Now, Samantha, what does this have to do with the little girl of the family?"

"Well, just be patient John. I'm getting there. The little girl, Nicole Jones, was in the mall with Green Day and her mom when the fire happened. It seemed she did not hear the alarm or something and almost burned to death! She is currently in a hospital and is getting all fixed up."

"Do we know WHY she wasn't paying attention and walked straight into the fire?" Asked John.

"Well we don't know EXACTLY why, but the owner gave us this DVD out of a security camera that was NOT burned."

"Let's play the DVD then, Samantha." Samantha nodded and the camera went from them to a video of me when I was walking into the fire. I had my headphones on and was closing my eyes as I walked straight into it.

"Well, it seems to me, she couldn't hear the fire alarm because she had her headphones on," said Samantha, "but why couldn't she see the fire?"

"Well, if you watch her eyes," said John, "can we rewind it please?" The video rewinded to when I was about to walk in, "Well, if you look, she had her eyes closed, so she couldn't see."

"Must've been a pretty good song if she had her eyes closed," laughed Samantha. My dad laughed and my mom slapped his arm.

"Now, she also made a note on the ground if she died," said John.

"Yes, we have a picture of it, too," said Samantha, "Shall we read it?"

"I think we should," said John. They showed the picture of the note I wrote on the floor and started reading it. I listened, refusing to cry as she read the note. I held back tears. I hated crying in front of my parents. It was so awkward.

I listened as Samantha said the last words, "'I will see you again, but in another life.' I can't believe a 12 year old wrote this." She wiped some tears out of her eyes, "It brings me to tears everytime."

"Now, do we have the video of when she was writing this?" Asked John.

"Yes we do, John."

"Can we play that?" The camera cut to the video of my arms burning and writing on the ground with a sharpie. I watched as I again wrote it. Tears came to my eyes and I quickly wiped them away before my parents could see them. They were crying too.

"I can't watch this anymore," said mom. She left my dad following closely behind. All the tears I had Ben holding in came streaming down my face. I cried as I watched. I had just finished writing the note and was laying on the ground, arms spread out, accepting the fact that I was going to die. I watched as the flames got closer to me. And then, right when they were about to touch me, they parted in the middle going around me and the note. I watched amazed. They just avoided me. It was God's work. He saved me.

"Now, what amazes me, and I think everyone else, is that the flames just avoided her and the note!" Said John.

"Well, she was praying before, John. This was no joke. God truly saved her," said Samantha, crying. I started crying of joy into my hands then called out to the sky.

"Thank you!" I said, "Thank you." My mom came in and asked me why I was crying. I told her that God saved me and she started crying to. She called everyone else in and I rewinded the TV to show the flames going around me and everyone started crying. It wasn't sad, though. God saved my life. I ow you, God, big time.
