*First person pov*

We walk up to the tower and out of nowhere, Kabuto's teammates appear out of the bushes. "Oh you guys, you're late Kabuto." The guy says. "We ran into some trouble, sorry." Kabuto apologizes. "But!! But!! Thanks to you, we got the scrolls!!" Naruto thanks. "No, it was because of you guys. You two were great at the end, Ciel-kun, Naruto-kun. We are going through this door, good luck to the both of us!" Kabuto says. "Yeah!" Naruto yells. My teammates walk in but I stay behind. I flip them off the walked in. As I walk in my teammates looked at me expectantly. I read the board thing and I realize why. Ohhhhh.... I pull the scrolls out from my pouch. You see, I told Duckbutt I don't trust him with the scrolls and told him to give me the scrolls. It took a while, since he was so stubborn, but I got them. I took out the scrolls, and I handed one to Naruto. He looked unsure, but took it. We opened it and Duckbutt widened his eyes. "Naruto! Ciel! Let go of the scrolls!" Duckbutt yelled. We both threw them and a poof of smoke appeared along with a unidentifiable figure appeared, since we can't see through the smoke. The smoke disappeared, revealing Iruka. "Hey! Long time no see!" Iruka says. "Huh? What's going on?!" Pinky yells. "You looks like you guys had trouble." Iruka says, ignoring Pinky's question. "You don't say? This is a chunin exam, of course we had trouble." I say. Iruka chuckles. "Huh? Why is Iruka-sensei summoned?" Naruto asks. "At the end of the second test, it's set up so we chunins meet up with the exam takers, and I was allowed to greet you." Iruka answers. "Greet us?" Pinky asks. Iruka takes out a pocket watch and checks the time. Dear lord, this is the first time I've seen a pocket watch! Those things are ancient! "The second test... you four pass, congratulations! I would like to celebrate your success with a round of ramen but..." Iruka gets cut off by Naruto tackling him in a hug. "WE DID IT!!" Naruto yells. He starts cheering and I sit down on the ground. He sure has a lot of energy.... wait. Keiko! Well, gotta go find Kakashi and have him give back Keiko. I zone out, waiting for Kakashi. I notice my teammates leaving with Iruka somewhere. I follow them and we go into the room where the third test is. My eyes land on Kakashi, and he has Keiko in his hands. Keiko waves to me, and I run to her. I didn't care I had to line up with my team, I wanted Keiko. "KEIKO!!! GIVEGIVEGIVEGIVEGIVEGIVEGIVEGIVEGIVEGIVE!!!" I yell really fast and Kakashi was sweat dropping along with the other jounins and chunins. Kakashi gives Keiko to me and I hug her. "Welcome back, Daddy! Keiko missed Daddy!!" Keiko says. I hug her tighter. Kakashi bonks me on the head. "You idiot, at least let me have my consent!! That cat kept annoying me on where you were and is very picky! This cat kept me up all night, asking for water!" Kakashi yells at me and I smile. "Well, at least you took care of Keiko, I'm grateful! I didn't want her to go into the forest of death! I owe you one!" I yell as I get into line. Kakashi sighs and shoves his hands in his pockets. "Well, anyways, congrats on passing!" Anko yells in the microphone. "Wow! Wow! Old man Hokage, Iruka-sensei, Kakashi-sensei, and even super brows is here! It's like everyone is assembled!" Naruto yells. "Heh, I can't say that I'm getting a good feeling." Duckbutt says. "Hokage-sama will now explain the third test! Listen carefully! Now Hokage-sama, please." Anko says in the mic. Grandpa takes over. "For the coming third test... but before I explain that, there is something I would like you to know. It concerns the true reason for this test." Grandpa says. Everyone looked confused. "Why do we have all the allianced countries taking the exam together? 'To promote friendship among the countries. To raise the level of a shinobi.' I don't want you to be confused about the true meaning. This exam is....." Grandpa trails off. There was tension in the room. Finally, Grandpa speaks. "A replacement for war among the allied countries. If you go back in time, the current allied countries were enemies who fought over who should rule. In order to prevent wasteful fighting, the stage that these countries we chose for battle... that is the origins of the chunin exams." Grandpa says. I clench my fists. What the hell did you old geezers do to shape this world of shinobi? "Why the hell do we have to do that crap!? Isn't this thing for deciding who's chunin and who's not!?" Naruto yells. "It is the fact that this exam decides which shinobis have what is takes to become a chunin. But on the other hand, this exam has another side. Where each country's shinobis risk their own life to protect their lands prestige. Watching this third exam will be leaders and influential individuals from many countries who make up the clients of the shinobi. And the leaders of countries will also be there to watch each of your battles. If the strength of a country is clear, that country will receive more clients. And conversely, if seen as weak, they will lose clients. And this will signal to potential countries that 'our village has more power'. So it sends the political message to outsiders." Grandpa says. "Yeah, but why!? Why do we have to risk our lives in battle?!" Kiba yells. "The strength of the country is the strength of a village. The strength of a village is the strength of a shinobi. And a shinobi's true strength is...... born only through life-risking battles." Grandpa says. For some reason, this caught me in a flashback.

*Flashback*

10 year old me is seen cleaning the wounds 18 year old Eric, my brother. After I cleaned the wounds of his, I start screaming in his face. "WHY?! WHY!? YOU PROMISED ME YOU WOULD NOT GO ON THOSE..... THOSE JOBS!! LAST TIME YOU CAME BACK FROM THOSE JOBS, YOU HAD ABOUT 4-5 BULLET WOUNDS! GIVE ME A GOOD REASON WHY YOU BROKE YOUR PROMISE!" 10 year old me yelled. My brother stayed silent for a few seconds and then answered. "Cassie, we need money. If I quit the jobs, we won't be able to keep this apartment and we would be forced to live in the streets, do you want that?" Eric says. "YES! IT'S BETTER THAN LOSING YOU!!" I yell. Eric sighs and pulls me into a hug and I sob in his chest. "To tell you the truth Cassie, I hate it too, to do those jobs. But I want you to have a normal life, even if I had to sacrifice my chance at a normal life. I keep doing the jobs just for that purpose. That job where I had got 5 bullets shot into my body, I was about to die from blood loss. But thinking about you gave me strength. You are my true strength. True strength is born through not life-risking battles, but to live to see another day, and see the people that you are fighting for." Eric says as he rubs my head.
