Life is the Long Game

Chapter 10

Topanga's POV:

I wake up to find myself in the duvet and nothing else, I look around for Cory when I notice a note on the dresser. I grab my robe and put it on as I walk over to the note.

'Topanga, my love,
I hope you had a great as time as I did. Thank you! I will happily give you a rematch tonight, but I've had to go back to work, I'll have a smile on my face the rest of the day.

I smile and go and run myself a hot bath, since I have nothing better to do. I light some candles and go the kitchen and grab a box of chocolates and pour out a glass of red wine, as the bath fills nicely. When I return, the bath is full and smells lovely and fresh so I turn off the taps and get in.
I miss Auggie being at home lots or Riley. I feel unneeded by my children. I want a baby! I don't think Cory will though with his new job, which he adores, as it'll be to much. If he doesn't want to then I'll respect that though, although I want another child at some point, maybe when it is Cory and I's 20th anniversary in 3 years, I mean I'll be older and there'll be more of a risk but I'll be okay.

*skip to when Auggie arrives home from school*

"Hey Augs, how was school?"
"Fine." He grumbles and drags himself to his room. I follow him.
"Auggie, baby, what's wrong?"
"Go away!" He mumbles into his pillow.
"Okay." I go and get Ava, so I can ask her.
"Topy, what do you want me to tell ya?"
"What happened to Auggie at school today?"
"At recess, a boy, Jackson Bolton, who is captain of the football team, hockey team, soccer team, and everything basically, asked me to go to the park and get ice cream with him and his mom alone today. I said 'but I only do that with Auggie and Topy' and he said Auggie isn't anything serious and that I needed a big boy to hang with! And that Topy is a stupid name and that Topy must be a ridiculous person!"
I gasp.
"And let me guess, Auggie heard."
"Yeah, all the other boys aren't very nice to him. And we've only been in the 2nd grade two days! And now he won't talk to me."
"Aww Ava, Auggie is probably jealous."
"Why? We are forever."
"Because, Auggie feels threatened by this Jackson boy. He thinks that you'd rather be with him. And to add to that he is most likely, hurt by what he said."
"Oh. I'll go talk to him."
"Just one thing Ava. Keep an eye on Auggie at school, tell me if that boy picks on him again, please?"
"Yes Topy." She salutes.
"AAUUUUGGGGGIIIIIIEEEEEE!" She yells as she hurries to his room, making me laugh. That's when it dawns on me, Auggie and Ava are the new me and Cory. Oh boy...

*later that day, when Auggie is in bed.*

I've decided to talk to Cory and see whether he would be okay if we tried to get pregnant, because he loves Riley and Auggie and he adores taking care of Amelie, he might agree with me.
"Hey, Cory, can we talk?"
"Yeah sure, what's wrong?"
"I'm lonely at home on my own! And work isn't very busy anymore, so I'm being paid a lot of money to do nothing basically!"
"So what are you trying to say? You want a hobby, new job? What do you want to entertain you?" He says, not taking it too seriously.
"I-I want another baby Cory."
He just sits there in shock...
