"You hear that Maya, baby? You're gonna be okay. So you can wake up now." I say to her lifeless body, following a discussion with her doctor. I kiss her left hand, that I'm holding, when I notice something. Her ring. It's gone. I rush out to Riley who is talking to the cops about the incident. "I think I know who did this." I tell one of the officers questioning Riley, who excuses herself to see Maya. "Who are you?" "I'm Joshua Matthews, Maya's fiancé." "I see. Who do you think is responsible then?" "Kelly. Kelly Clark. She has been threatening Maya for months, stalking us practically too, because I won't get with her. She took Maya's engagement ring." "Well I'd like to take a full statement in the near future, but in the meantime I'll investigate Miss Clark. Thank you Mr Matthews." "Officer." I nod my head and begin to walk back to Maya's room. Riley comes running out to find me. "Uncle Josh, come quick!" "What? Why? What's happened?" "She's awake." I sprint into her room. "Maya!" I quickly go up to her and kiss her passionately. "Josh. I go for a walk outside when I stop her. I storm over to her.
