Chapter 19

*Amelie's 1st Birthday*

Riley's POV:

I can't believe my little girl is one years old today! She is growing up so fast!
Amelie is still asleep when Lucas and I wake up, so we use this time to start preparing for the party this afternoon. After about half an hour, Amelie starts crying to make us aware that she is awake.
"Happy Birthday Babygirl." Lucas says as he picks her up from her crib when as we walk in to get her.
"You're one years old today, did you know that?" I say giving her a kiss. She giggles cutely in response.
"Shall we go see what presents you have?" Lucas says to her rhetorically, before we walk into the living area, to lots of pink and purple wrapped presents.
Amelie giggles and claps her hands excitedly, she knows what presents are, now we've had her first Christmas.
"Yeah, these are all for you!" I say sitting her down on my lap as Lucas begins to give her the presents. After about half an hour, Amelie has opened all of her presents.
"Are you a happy little birthday girl with all your presents?" Lucas asks our daughter who is still sat on my lap. And of a sudden she stands up, (she has been doing that quite a lot) and then moved forward!
"Lucas! She is taking her first steps! Oh My Goodness! Our little girl is really growing up!"'I practically squeal.
squeal.
"Wow! Aren't you just the cleverest?" He asks her, just before she falls down, and cries.
"I think I'll get her dressed now." I suggest, and Lucas nods.

*A few hours later*

Maya, Farkle, Uncle Josh and Enid have just been the first to arrive for the party, and Lucas is still unaware I invited his parents.
"Amelie took a few more steps a moment ago!" Maya tells me, as she approaches me.
"I can't believe she is one." I say and lean my head on my best friend's shoulder. Just then the door bell rings.
"I'll get it!" I yell quickly, it could be the Friars, I hurry to the door. It's my Grandparents and Mr Feeny.
"Riley! Where's my beautiful Great-Granddaughter?" Grandpa greets.
"She over there with Uncle Josh." I tell him as he hurries over.
"Hello, Riley, sweetie." My Grandma hugs me tightly.
"Grandma, I'm glad you could come. And you Mr Feeny."
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." He says, before hugging me too. I go and stand back with Maya.
"You didn't tell him did you?" She asks, as we admire our fiancés play with my daughter.
"How did you figure it out?"
"How many normal people a door that quickly?"
"Okay, I may not have told him..." I trail off.
"I can't wait to see how this one turns out."
"They might not even come you know."
"Yeah well, who knows."
The door bell rings again, but this time Maya answers it. It's my parents, Auggie and Uncle Shawn.
"Riley! Where's the baby?" Auggie asks, impatiently. I point to where she is attempting to walk, and he rushes over.
"Mom!" I say hugging her tightly.
"Hey Riley, you okay there?"
"Yeah, it's just, Amelie is one! Already!"
"Well it has been a year!" My dad says.
"Ha. Ha." I say sarcastically.
"She took her first steps this morning." I tell them.
"Wow. That's amazing. How many more people to arrive?" My Mom asks.
"Uncle Eric, his girlfriend, Aunt Morgan, Ryan, and there baby, what's his name again?" I ask.
"Thomas. Anyone else?"
"Pappy Joe, Cletis and I may have invited Lucas's parents?"
"Good. It shows you are the better person."
"Thanks Mom. Oh and I know what I want to do after High School. I'm gonna go to NYU and then work in a Hotel and eventually have my own!" I tell her happily.
"You are all grown up, aren't you?" She says emotionally.
"Aww Mom, I'll always be your little girl."
"But you have your own now."
"Come on, let's go have some fun with her then." I take her hand and take her to Amelie.

A little while later, everyone has arrived apart from Lucas's parents. We have just stared giving Amelie presents. Then there is a knock on the door. I go answer it.
"Hello Riley. Long time, no see." I gasp, they are actually here...
