After 3 peaceful, quality family days of just the three of us, Maya, Uncle Josh and Farkle are now joining us. They are arriving this afternoon so we have decided to go to the pool this morning.
"You coming in with us Riles?" Lucas asks bouncing Amelie up and down in the air.
"No, I'm gonna work on my tan and watch you too for now."
"Okay. You're boring." He teases.
"Thanks." I say sarcastically as I watch Lucas gently dip Amelie into the water she squeals and eventually goes in fully. Lucas is trying to teach her how to swim.
"Babe, you realise she is only one, right?" I laugh.
"I know. I want to start her early. Swimming can save your life."
"Okay."
I watch Amelie splash around a bit and continuously giggle at her dad. They have such a cute relationship. Then I hear my phone ring from my bag, I dig it out before it rings out. It's my mom.
R: Hey Momma.
T: Hi Riley, how's the vacation?
R: Oh my goodness mom it's amazing it's so relaxing, and it's Amelie's first real holiday so it's such a special time. She's so cute.
T: That's good, what are you up to?
R: Lucas is in the pool with Amelie and I'm watching them, we are having a calm morning before Maya and everyone arrives this afternoon. Are you okay?
T: Sure.
R: Mom? I know when you're lying. What's wrong?
T: Honestly Riley, your father and I have been trying for another baby for months and it hasn't worked and I though I might have been because I was late but I got my period and I just really want a baby and I'm not getting one.
R: Aw, mom I'm sorry. I don't really know what to say, maybe go to the doctor, they might have some advice?
T: Actually that's a good idea, thank you. Because I'm slightly older than before it might not be as simple as having lots of sex.
R: TMI Mom, I know that's how you make babies but you don't need to say the word. Cringe mom.
T: Sorry. Anyway, I have to go but thank you. Have a good time.
R: Thanks, we will.
T: I love you.
R: I love you too.
T: Stay safe.
R: We will. G'bye.
T: Bye.
I hang up a place my phone back in my bag, along with my cover up, sunglasses and hat as I've decided to join Amelie and Lucas in the pool.
I jump in without thinking and scream at the low temperature. I hear Lucas laughing at me.
"You were meant to tell me it was that cold."
"Was I? Whoops." He sticks his tongue out and Amelie immediately grabs it.
"Ow." He says and removed her hand and passes me our daughter.
"Hey baby. Do you like the water? Yeah. And can you swim?" I coo over Amelie in a baby voice. She babbles away, saying things like 'momma', 'dada' and other words she can just about say. But she can say swim, sort of. She loves to be in the water though so it makes sense, I think she'll be a lifeguard when she's older.
After about 45 minutes of playing with my daughter and fiancé I decide to get out as I'm all crinkled up.
"I'm going to go up to the room and take a shower before our friends arrive. You coming?" I say to Lucas.
"Yeah. Amelie is getting tired so we can put her down for a nap before we take a shower."
"Who said anything about you coming in with me?" I smirk.
He stutters to try to find an answer but fails.
