CHAPTER 1

'Kiera, come on we're going to be late!'

'Lily, I’m walking as fast as I can!' I shout back. We hear the bell ring and we run off to class. We're in the same class so I won't go in alone.

'Lily, Kiera, nice of you two to finally join us.'

'Sorry, we're late Mr. Mason it won't happen again.' He nods and we take our seat at the back. We're currently doing Geography and I’m bored so I play with my hair. Lily narrows her eyes at me and I just shrug my shoulders.

'What's the capital of Oman?' Mr. Mason asks. Confidently, I put my hand up almost instantly and he picks me to answer the question.

'O,' I proudly state. The class just snigger and Lily stares at me like I’m out of this world.

'No, Kiera, I mean what is the capital city, not the capital letter.'

'I'm not a map Mr. Mason.' He decides not to bother with me and carries on with the lesson. He starts talking about a lot of countries that all sound similar.

'I'm confused,' I whisper to Lily.

'Breakfast is confusing for you.'

'Not breakfast, just some, like eggs or something, it has multiple tastes, don't you think?' Again, she looks at me like I’m out of this world but then smiles at me.

'Lily! Kiera! Not only do you two come late to my class but you talk as well, not a word do you hear me?'

'Yes Sir,' replies Lily.

'I'm waiting for you Kiera.' I look at him but I don't say anything.

'Kiera!'

'But Sir you said you didn't want to hear me, if I speak, you'd hear me, like you're hearing me now.' Mr. Mason sighs and the class laughs again. Even Lily giggles at my comment and she never laughs. I guess it was that stupid. Well, what can I say?

The bell rings and saves me further embarrassment. We all rush out of the classroom dying to get out there. As everyone goes for lunch, I leave the school premises and go home.
