CHAPTER 40

'Kiera do you have any plans today?' I think about anything that I may have scheduled for today but nothing springs to mind. I reply to my father's question by saying 'no.'

'Good.' 

'How is that good?' I ask aloud.

 'Because Andrea and I need to talk to you,' he simply states before walking out of the kitchen. His words begin echoing in my ears and I can't help but feel confused. Why would they need to talk to me? It's not like I have done anything. I bite my bottom lip and begin pacing around the kitchen. After a while of mentally listing every bad thing I have done recently, I realise it's no use and that I'll find out later. 

As I go past my dad and Andrea's room, I notice that the room looks empty. I go to my room and sit on my sofa and check my messages. 

Yeah...You really do sound like it, no offence. ¬Joe¬

I roll my eyes at Joe's reply and I go to the next message.

Yep, we do and we can start by hanging out in an hour! We're all meeting at Lily's house, you up for it? xoK

I consider attending but I can't help the thought of it being awkward.

(To Katie) I don't know... ~K~

You don't know? Seriously come on, it'll be fun! Or do you not want to hang out with me? : 3 xoK

(To Katie) I can't believe you actually said that! Of course I want to hang with you but not with everyone around! ~K~

Why not? It’ll be fun, if you feel uncomfortable at all, then we'll go I promise! xoK

(To Katie) Fine

I sigh because I can't believe I did that. I check the time which reads 15:03 I debate on cancelling a second later but that would be stupid, so I have no choice but to get ready.

I decide on wearing purple jeans and a white sleeveless top. I put my hair in a high ponytail and check the time again which now reads 15:21. I feel like taking a nap but I'll probably oversleep and make a fool out of myself so I pass the time by day dreaming. 

'Kiera!' My dad's loud voice puts a stop to my day dream and I go downstairs to shut him up.

 'Yes?'

'Where are you going?' He questions as he looks at my changed outfit suspiciously.

'To Lily's house.'

'Well, me and Andrea need to talk to you right now, so let's go to the living room shall we?' I narrow my eyes at him, determined to find out what his angle is.

'Okay,' I say stretching the letter "a." He gives me a look that shuts me up, before I follow him into the living room.

I notice the presence of Andrea, with Liz and a younger girl who is probably no older than six or seven years old. I look at my dad, hoping he'll explain everything to me. 'Kiera, meet Liz and Lola.'

'What?'

'I said-'

'I heard what you said! Why are you introducing me to them?' It's only then that I realise how we're all standing. Andrea is stood next to the girls and my dad is standing next to me, so we're facing each other. My eyes widen as I now understand that Liz and Lola are Andrea's daughters.
