CHAPTER 11
'She knows.' Lucy just stares at me without saying a word so I decide repeating what I said. 'She knows!'
'I heard you the first time, I just didn't say anything, I'm not deaf you know!' Talk about defensive. I don't know how to reply to that so I just stay quiet. None of us say anything so Lucy breaks the silence by saying 'well say something then.'
'When I do, all I get is grief and when I don't you suddenly want me to speak?'
'Kiera, I didn't mean it like that and it was only once, I don't think snapping at you is called me giving you grief.'
'It's not just now though is it?' Crap. I've landed myself in a whole different level. She looks at me while raising her eyebrows and asks 'what do you mean by that?' I immediately shrug my shoulders and say 'it's no biggie, forget I ever said anything.'
'It's kind of hard to do that when you don't think before you speak Kiera.'
'Lucy, I don't want to argue with you so just...'
'Just shut the hell up you mean?' I choose to ignore her comment and just sit in the common room without saying a word to anyone and Lucy doesn't bother talking either. 'Erm... Hi.' We both look up and see Lily standing there in front of us.
'I thought you were mad at us.' I tell her which catches Lucy's attention as she instantly sits up and asks 'you were mad at me?'
'I still kind of am.'
'So why the hell are you here talking to us then?' She asks with nothing but anger clear in the tone she uses.
'I honestly don't know.' I scoff and they both look at me so I ask 'what?'
'Nothing,' replies Lily avoiding my eyes which is weird because she always looks people in the eyes while she's talking which can obviously mean only one thing. Something's wrong. Like really wrong, I can even sense it. I'm not sure if Lucy realised as she has a lot on her mind. 'Hey, is something wrong Lily?'
'Erm...why would it be?'
'How about the fact that you never say "erm" as you always say it's "unnecessary" or the fact that you look people in the eye while talking to them and you can't even look at us! It's like...-'
'It's like what Kiera?'
'It's like you're guilty or something.' Lily doesn't answer me so Lucy asks 'are you?'
'I have to go.' Lily mutters while walking off.
'And there's your answer,' I mumble to Lucy. We'll probably find out sooner or later, with the way Lily's acting, probably later rather than sooner.

Two days later, I'm in the common room, where me and Lucy had that weird conversation with Lily. It keeps replaying in my mind. 'Well well, look who we have here.' Oh great, Joe and his friends have entered the common room. Can life get any worse?
'What do you want Joe? I'm not in the mood.'
'Ooooh feisty,' says one of his friends while the others just laugh.
'No, it's not me being feisty, it is called reality but I guess it is too complex for your little brain.' He immediately stops laughing but his friends carry on.
'That gob on you!' Shouts Joe. I don't reply, instead, I act like I haven't heard him. He walks towards me, and then decides to sit opposite me with all of his friends surrounded around him. What a loser?
'What do you want Joe?'
'Certainly not you!' His friends cry with laughter and he seems proud of what he's accomplished.
