CHAPTER 35
I walk inside my house and see my dad leaning against the banister waiting for me. 'How long does it take to get some breakfast? It's nearly three!'
'And your point is?'
'I've made a reservation for the three of us at Le Reve this evening.' I'm tired and I don't want to go but I know that's the answer Andrea wants from me.
'What time?'
'At six.'
'Till when?'
'Don't worry, I know you have some funeral things to do for tomorrow. You can do them now and I'll make sure you get time to do it after.' I just nod and head upstairs. I don't bother changing; I sit on my bed and text Lily.
(To Lily) What time are you coming over? ~K~
I roll my phone in my hands, waiting for a reply.
Not sure, around 7ish or something. Is that okay? xLilx
(To Lily) Yeah, sure. See you then! ~K~
Laters. xLilx
I set an alarm for 17:05 as I don't want to oversleep, before drifting off to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~
I wake up to my phone vibrating and consider hitting the snooze button. But, I realise the reason for why I set the alarm up in the first place. I groan and get out of bed. I open my wardrobe and look for an outfit to wear. I settle for a blue and white maxi dress with a blue cardigan with black heels. I curl my hair and let it hang over my shoulders. I glance at my phone, checking the time, which reads 17:35.
I head downstairs and find my dad dressed in a suit. I roll my eyes and don't bother complimenting his outfit. 'When are we going?' I sigh.
'In a bit, we're just waiting for Andrea.'
'How long is she taking? It's just a dinner for crying out loud!'
'Kiera, I'm warning you.’ I loudly sigh, but don't bother saying anything else.
~~~~~~~~~~
Ten minutes later, Andrea walks down the stairs. She's wearing a black maxi dress, with a white cardigan and white heels. Her hair is done in a high bun and she has a black thin scarf in between her pale shoulders. 'Oh Andrea, you look beautiful.'
'Thank you honey, so do you.' I roll my eyes, but they carry on showering compliments on one another. 'Can we go now?' I sigh again. They look at each other before my dad says 'let's go.'
We walk out of the house and to my dad's car. As expected, Andrea sits in the passenger seat, like she owns it, so I just sit in the back. My dad starts driving and my phone begins vibrating. 'Turn that thing off.'
'Yes, turn it off,' my dad says, agreeing with Andrea. I turn it to silent instead. 'You better not be on your phone when we arrive at the restaurant Kiera.' I ignore my dad's statement and read the messages on my phone.
How are the funeral arrangements going? xo-Luce
I heard your mum's funeral is 2moro & I haven't spoken to you in ages, are you ok? ¬Joe¬
Just a heads up, the boys are planning to go to the funeral tomorrow, you okay with that? xoK
I read all three messages and notice that they're all bout the funeral tomorrow. I don't want to reply to any, but I know I should.
