CHAPTER 22
I keep walking, obeying the command of my legs. I intend to go to the only place I'll feel welcome. The hospital.
I feel my phone vibrate in my back pocket, followed by a loud ping. So I get it out and see that I have three texts from Lily and one from Lucy.
Where are you? xLilx
Why are you not replying? xLilx
For crying out loud, just text me back! xLilx
You should reply to Lil's texts, she's drivin' me mad. xo-Luce
I roll my eyes while reading them silently and type out a quick reply.
(To Lily) I'm going2the hospital. No biggie.. ~K~
(To Lucy) I already have. ~K~
I put my pone back into my pocket and walk towards the familiar direction of the hospital. Once I walk inside, I don't even bother looking at the receptionist, as I just walk through the corridors. For some strange reason, me and receptionists don't seem to get along. 'Kiera!' I turn around and see Montgomery.
'Hi, what are you doing here?
'I've come to visit my wife. I'm guessing you have come to see your mother?' I nod, confirming his suspicions. I notice that he's standing still and doesn't make any movement, so I ask 'weren't you visiting your wife?'
'Yes, I am but I’m waiting for my grandson who's just gone into the toilets.' I nod my head again as I don't know what to say. Before I can even think of something to say, I hear a loud ping, indicating that I have a new message from my phone. I don't know whether to check my phone or to just ignore it. 'That might be important, check it.'
'No, it's okay.'
'Honestly, it's fine. You should check it.' I don't need to be told twice as I immediately dish out my phone and read the text message that I got from Lily.
Oh okay. Sorry. xLilx
After reading her text message, I put my phone away without even replying. 'Grandpa, I thought I got lost.' I turn my attention to a little boy, who is probably Montgomery's grandson. I can't see his face as he has his back to me but his voice sounds really familiar. He turns around and I instantly recognise him.
'Hi Tommy.' I say trying to sound cheerful and waving my hand for emphasis.
'Hi,' he replies while mirroring my fake smile, however his is evidently real.
'Oh, you two know each other?'
'Yes, grandpa, she was the pretty girl that was crying in the park that I told you about remember?' My cheeks become bright pink but I try to ignore it and just smile.
'Oh, you were talking about Kiera?' At first, he looks a little clueless as he doesn't know my name but he comes to realisation and nods his head.
'How do you two know each other grandpa?'
'Well, we met in this very hospital' he states as a matter of fact while motioning with his hands.
'Really?'
'Yes Tommy.'
'How?' Before Montgomery can reply to Tommy's question, we see his wife being wheeled out in a hospital bed with doctors surrounding her. Automatically, Montgomery's facial expression falls as he quickly walks up to them, taking Tommy by the hand. 'What's going on?'
