CHAPTER 26
I wake up to the loud piercing sound of the bell. It takes me a few minutes to realise that my English Literature exam will be happening in less than ten minutes. I grab all my belongings and head for the hall.
Most students are already here but I’m not the only one coming in now. I take my original seat and mentally prepare myself for what’s to come.
‘Where are Lucy and Lily?’ I look up to find Liz staring back at me, impatiently waiting for an answer.
‘Well, how do I know?’
‘Maybe because you saw them last?’
‘Actually, I didn’t, so get your facts right.’
‘Well, Lucy was sat next to you so you should know.’
Well, maybe I was focusing on my exam, which is what you’re supposed to do.’ She scoffs like I can’t believe what I said.
‘Oh hey Liz.’
‘There’s your answer,’ I mutter as Lucy appears, to no one in particular. They begin talking but Mr. Whiteside yells at everyone to get to their seats so Liz goes to her seat at the back.
‘How did you find Biology and Chemistry?’
‘I don’t really want to talk about the exams Lucy.’ I quickly state. She doesn’t reply so I decide to return the question. ‘What about you?’
‘What about me?’
‘I mean, how did you find the exam?’ I ask while rolling my eyes.
‘Oh,’ she mutters smiling before continuing, ‘I'm not even sure.'
‘You say that now, but you'll come out with an A as usual.’ I quickly reply smirking and she returns it.
‘Okay, silence everyone.’ Instantly, everyone obeys Mr. Whiteside’s orders. The exam papers are on our desk, along with the “the kite runner” and the poetry book that we’ve been studying.
~~~~~ENGLISH LIT~~~~~
The bell rings and we all open out exam paper. When I read the question and notice that it’s on the character Baba, my mind becomes completely blank. We’re given half an hour to finish this particular question on Section A. I begin to have a mental panic attack. But then I realise that it’s English, so I can pretty much make everything up and back it up using a quotation.
The rest of the questions are a blur as I found them very easy. It’s either that or I’ve done it all wrong. I just sit in my seat waiting for the bell to go, so I can get my Psychology exam over and done with as well.
The sound of the bell is heard throughout the hall and the papers are collected. There are numerous students rushing in and students rushing out. There is just over five minutes for the Psychology exam to start.
~~~~~PSYCHOLOGY~~~~~
The bell rings and I hear the familiar noise of exam papers being opened. I find the questions so far pretty easy and before I know it, I complete my exam paper. I decide to actually check over my work and I keep doing that until the bell rings.
The bell rings and as soon as the exam papers are collected, I receive a text from my dad. I debate on whether or not to open it due to his previous text but I open it anyway.
Get down to the hospital as soon as possible –Dad.
My heart starts racing and my palms become all sweaty. Suddenly, I feel all hot; it’s like I’m burning. I prepare for the worst, as I know it has something to do with my mum. I have one hour before I have my Geography exam so I take all my things and walk out of the school building.
