CHAPTER 42

 I feel someone tapping my scalp lightly and I feel Lucy's green eyes staring at me. 'How long was I asleep for?'

'A while.' I give her a serious look and she says 'nearly an hour.' My eyes widen and she quickly says 'I said nearly!'

'Why didn't you wake me up?'

'You looked pretty peaceful.' I roll my eyes at her response.

 'And you wake me up now?'

'I need the toilet.'

'Oh,' she puts her drink and popcorn under her chair.

 'Come with me?' I nod, putting my things under my chair before getting up to follow her. I walk carefully as I don't want to trip and make a fool out of myself.

The ladies toilets' is close and we head inside. Instantly, Lucy rushes into a stall. Some women are already in toilets washing and blow drying their hands. A few minutes later, Lucy walks out and washes her hands. 'I'm so tired.' I think aloud.

'I find that very easy to believe,’ I choose to ignore her statement. 'So you and Liz are step sisters.'

'Please don't remind me, I'm going to get enough reminding at home.'

'She's not that bad.'

'Can we talk about something else?' I coldly ask and she just says 'fine.' She dries her hands and we walk out.

'Oh my God, we should totally check what movies are on in the other rooms.'

'Kiera-'

'Come on, it will be fun!'

'You sound like James.' I act like I'm offended and sarcastically say 'thanks.' She smirks and mutters 'fine then.'

We peep our head through one of the rooms and a cartoon is playing. It looks boring, so I say 'next one.' We look through the door next to it, which has blood in the scenes playing and I say 'next one.'

'No, we're missing the movie we paid for, remember?' I forgot about that.

 'Fine,' I mumble and we walk back to the room we left a short while ago.

~~~~~~~~~~
As we sit in our seats, I hear Liz ask 'where the hell did you go?'
'The toilets,' Lucy replies
'And why didn't you tell me?'
'Relax Liz, you were too focused on the movie and I don't have to tell you everything.' I don't even have to look up to know that Liz is offended, as she doesn't reply.
The scenes on the screen contain blood and I'm curious as to where the blood came from but it's a little late to start paying attention to the movie now.
I hear James slurping his drink beside me and I give him a disgusted look. Minutes later, he begins burping, louder and louder each time, interrupting the movie. The corner of my mouth tips up and my eyebrows sink into a disbelieving gaze. I notice Lucy's body tense, so I whisper quietly 'shall we move?' She nods and walks to the opposite side, towards the middle row and sits in the middle seat; where there aren't much people. I follow her, sitting beside her.
Moments later, Katie sits beside me, with Joe beside her and Lily and Liz beside Lucy. 'Why did you move?' Lily asks.
'James was irritating me,' she answers, folding her arms. The man himself walks over to us and pats Lucy on the shoulder. She turns around and he asks 'the popcorn?' She gives him a disapproving look before saying 'under the chair,' and turns around again.
Ten minutes into my new seat, I notice popcorn flying in front of us, landing on middle aged people. I turn around and see that James is to blame. His green eyes meet mine and he throws popcorn at me, which lands right in my face. I groan in frustration and James, Max, Chris and Tom burst out laughing. They don't seem to care that a tragic death scene is currently taking place and people turn their heads around, as they think they're finding the scene amusing. 'Are those idiots throwing popcorn?' Katie asks.
 'Yes, James is responsible; he just threw one right in my face.' I reply.
'That explains their howling,' I smirk and nod, returning my attention to the movie. The current scene shows a girl and a boy arguing, which isn't scary at all; instead it's quite boring. But the dramatic music is playing and James' scream echoes throughout the room. People begin laughing at the fact that it wasn't even scary.
We all turn around and he starts bowing which looks retarded and stupid. I cringe at the sight and instantly turn back around. 'God, can he get more annoying?' Lucy asks.
'This is James we're talking about; he can always get more annoying!' I reply.
 'Don't remind me,' she focuses on the movie, blocking James' crazy tactics from her mind.
The characters in the movie are discussing a serious conversation and don't pay any attention to their surrounding. There's someone behind them but obviously the characters can't see, which creates more suspense. 'Look behind you!' Screams James, which again, results at people laughing at his childish behavior. However this time, he doesn't bow, which is probably because I can see that Tom has a firm grip on James' wrist. It's obvious to everyone that he loves the attention he is receiving, which isn't at all surprising.
The movie is coming to an end and I think it's the scariest scene yet. There is blood everywhere as well as a lot of screaming. My legs begin shaking uncontrollably and I feel a sudden bloom of heat across my face. My heart rate is so fast it could be mistaken for the thrumming wings of a caged bird.
Just when things can't get any worse, I feel a tap on my shoulder and a voice in deep voice in my ear, saying 'terrifying isn't it?' Immediately, I begin screaming and rise up from my seat, just as the credits appeared on the screen. Everyone turns to face me and begin laughing at me. I realise it was James, who is on the floor laughing. I feel like a lava pit and all I want to do is run the other way; never coming back. I walk out of the room, unable of preventing the heat in my cheeks.
Moments later, they come outside to join me. Max and James are laughing at my reaction and I try distracting myself. ‘Are you okay?’ Katie and Joe ask me. I nod my head and Joe shouts ‘shut up James, that wasn’t even funny!’
‘Are you joking, it was hilarious!’ Max defends and I just ignore him.
 ‘I’m going to the toilets,’ announces Liz and Lily follows.
‘Oh yeah, me too,’ mutters James as he goes in to the male toilets with all the boys, leaving me, Lucy and Katie in the hallway.
‘That is the last time I go anywhere with them!’ Lucy says.
 ‘I second that.’ I sigh loudly.
 ‘Are you okay?’ Lucy asks concerned.
‘Yes, I am.’ James comes out of the toilets and the minute he sees me, he bursts out laughing.
‘Shut up James and I think you owe Kiera some money, don’t you think?’
‘Shut up Lucy, it has nothing to do with you!’ James angrily states.
 ‘It actually has a lot to do with me James.’
‘Whatever, it was worth it, I’d do it all over again if I could,’ he says as he hands me twenty pounds. I look at the money as if it is diseased and say ‘keep it.’
‘Well, I’m not going to argue with you there!’ I narrow my eyes at him and he becomes quiet. ‘Well, I’ve got to go, so ta ta,’ he says waving his fingers, before walking off.
Joe walks out of the toilets and says ‘goodbye,’ to us and walks hand in hand with Katie. The rest of the boys walk out and say ‘bye.’ I leave Lucy to reply, not bothering to say anything.
 ‘What’s taking them so long?’ I tap my shoes against the carpet. Lucy doesn’t know how to reply, so she just keeps quiet.
Lily and Liz finally walk out and Lily asks ‘are you okay?’
 ‘Fine.’ I reply harsher than I intended. Lily, Liz and Lucy are engaging in a conversation, in which I feel excluded from so I fold my arms and walk along with them in silence.
