CHAPTER 50
An hour later, my dad comes home and asks to speak with me. I notice Lucy avoiding him and I get up, following him out of the room. 'I'm sorry, really I am. I had no idea you felt like that and it saddens me to think that I didn’t notice earlier.'
'Its fine, all forgotten.' I state without emotion.
'How can it be forgotten? A week ago, you were screaming at me.'
'Did you want something?' I rudely ask, trying to alter the conversation. He looks down and his disappointed facial expression fails to come across unnoticed.
'Lola would like to talk to you, she's up in her room,' I nod and walk upstairs. I'm grateful that I didn't have to talk to him long because I didn’t want a repeat of last week.
'Hi Lola.' I say walking into her room. She's reading a book and when she notices me, she turns it over, preventing the loss of her current page.
'Hi, are you really going?'
'Yes.'
'But why?'
'It's just something my mother wanted.' She pulls a face and says 'but I thought we were a family.’
'And we are, I'll visit I promise.'
'It's not the same,' she says, just like Lucy had done earlier. 'I thought I had another sister but you're leaving.' My heart starts beating wildly at her words.
'I still am your sister, I just won't be living with you anymore, but you'll see me in the holidays.'
'Promise?'
'I pinky promise,’ Her face lights up and her lips curl into a huge smile. I walk over to hug her and she hugs me back. 'I'll miss you Kiera.'
'I'll miss you too,' I say softly into her hair.

As I walk out of Lola's room, I see Andrea making her way over to me and ask 'what did she say?'
'She didn't want me to leave.'
'No one does, you know it's not too late to change your mind.' I sigh, before saying, 'I have already made up my mind.' She smiles softly and says 'your dad is really upset, have you tried talking to him?'
'He called me in the living room and kept apologising.'
'Maybe you should listen Kiera?'
'But how are you supposed to live with nine years of torture?' She sighs because this is a difficult subject and says 'honestly Kiera, I don't know, but the sincerity is clear in his voice and I really do think he means it.'
'Don't get fooled, he's a great actor.' She raises her eyebrows at me and changes the subject, 'well aren't you going to give me a big hug?' I genuinely am surprised because I didn't think she'd ask for one. She hugs me and I can't help but feel a little uncomfortable. I push my feelings aside and hug her back. I pull away quickly and say 'I need to go downstairs.'
'Okay,' she says and watches me as I enter into the living room.
'Half an hour left!' Max states and I look at him unimpressed. I sigh before saying 'please shut up, you're existence is actually annoying me!'
'Ouch Max, are you going to reply to that?' Asks Chris, acting like a reporter.
'Normally, I would but seen as Kiera is leaving soon, I’ll let it slide.' I roll my eyes and sit down next to Lucy, where she's talking to Joe.
