They had lunch and Keyna avoided Malcolm like the plague. They talked, they laughed, they had fun in each others company and four hours later, one by one they started leaving.Malcolm was just about to leave but decided to disturb Keyna once again just for the sake of having fun. He had put on his coat and his shoes and Keyna was ordered by her mother to walk him out. She took the three steps down and stopped. She wouldn't go further because she didn't wan't to.
"What now sweet heart? Aren't you going to walk me to the car like you were told to?" teased Malcolm as he turned around to face her.
"Just leave already. I'm tired of seeing your face." she said as she crossed her hands.
"Oh sweet Keyna, don't be so mean now. We both know that you're going to miss me when I'm gone," he said as he began walking towards her.
"What are you doing?" she asked as her palms began sweating again because she was nervous.
"Oh don't be scared. I just want to say goodbye," he said as he suddenly snatched her and pressed his lips on her cheek.
When she realized what had happened she pushed him away and tried to slap him but he caught her hand just as it was about to land on his cheek.
"You don't want to do that Keyna. Have a lovely week," he said as he turned around and walked toward his black jeep.
She stood there infuriated but a small part of her was melting. A small part of her wanted to jump up and down because of that small kiss on her cheek. But she wouldn't let that small part of her control her feelings so she stormed back into the house angrily cursing the man with all the words she possibly could. How could she let this happen to herself? She was glad that her mother hadn't seen that because her mother would not shut up about it and after helping her mother clean up, she put on her coat, her heels and took her handbag and drove home.
Later that week, the dresses arrived and this was only a sign that the wedding was getting closer. Just one week and one day to the wedding and Keyna started to panic. She hadn't gotten a present for her sister or planned the night out party for the bridesmaids. She was desperate. She was in deep despair and she needed help so on Friday night after closing up the store, she sat in her car and gathered all the guts she could. She pulled out her phone and dialed his number. He didn't pick up, it went straight to voicemail and after her second attempt also failed she decided that she would text him instead.
Hello. I need to have lunch with you tomorrow to discuss some serious matters. If you are available, please let me know. Thank you.
She read the text over and over again and thought that it was too formal but she decided to send it anyway. She parked outside a grocery store and got in. She picked a tub of ice cream, some apples, chocolate and soda and walked to the terminal to pay. She looked around trying to see if she would be able to see him but she mentally slapped herself for being so stupid. Why was she interested anyway?
She got home and had a long relaxing shower and washed her hair. She got into her pajamas and went to her living room where she made herself comfortable on the couch with her ice cream, soda and popcorn and began watching movies. She was laughing at a joke that was made in the movie "dirty grandpa" when her phone vibrated.
She sighed and looked at the text that she had just received. It was from him.
Is this you asking me out? If it is I need to think about it sweet heart ;) I knew you would miss me.
