Annie's POV

I woke up today and I noticed something was different. Mom usually woke us up at 7:15. It was already 7:30.

"Huh, that's strange". I thought to myself.

I walked downstairs and I only saw mom in the kitchen editing videos.

"Hey mom, why didn't you wake Hayley and I up?".

"Hayley is at school already, I'm keeping you home today because I need to talk to you about some stuff".

"Am I in trouble?". I said while sitting down in the seat next to where mom was sitting.

"No, I just need to talk to you about what I've been noticing these past few weeks".

"Okay, what is it?".

"So since Ms Jill and her family came back, I've noticed you've been slacking in some things".

"Like what?". I asked confused.

She sighed and closed her computer,
"Your school called last night saying that you weren't in your last period classes, So I asked Ms Jill about it and she said that she got the same exact call from the school for Brennan. Why did you guys skip school?".

I looked down and twiddled my fingers,
"I don't know...because we wanted too I guess".

"Julianna Grace, it's never okay to skip school. You should know better".

"I know, I'm sorry mom.."

"Also, your report card came in, all of your grades in your classes dropped majorly. I was just thinking about this over and over again, why is this happening? Is it because of Brennan?".

"No mom, it's not Brennan".

"Look honey, I think it's best if you guys just take a break from seeing each other".

"What? why?!". I asked yelling a bit.

"It would just be best for now since your grades are dropping and you need to focus more in school and your life, not everything is about Brennan".

"But I love him mom, don't you get it? I am a different person now because of him. He makes me happy, I love the person I am when I'm with him. Who comforted me and had the time to always make sure if I was okay or made me smile when I didn't think I would ever be happy again when Caleb passed away? That's right, Brennan did".

"Annie, please don't bring up your brothers passing into this".

"But it's the truth mom, Caleb's death brought me and Brennan back together"

I stormed out of the kitchen in tears and went upstairs.

"I'm going to call Ms Jill to tell her that Brennan is no longer able to see you".  mom yelled.

I went back downstairs and I saw her starting to dial the phone,

"Whatever you tell her it doesn't change the way I feel about him!".
