Chance's P.O.V

Life was an unbearable teacher.

Constantly fighting to give you lessons you don't need to encounter.

Throwing unsolvable quizzes that you may never seem to solve.

There aren't any books to study, either.

Some people were lucky.

They bucked up a couple of times and finally got it right.

They had large textbooks to study from.

But then, there were the others.

Like me.

We didn't have a textbook like the rest of the class. We had brain power and even with that we struggled.

We didn't have luck.

F**k that.

It wasn't for us.

We had the hard side of life.

We were the ones where everything went wrong.

The accident-prone.

We failed the test.

We were failures in life.

Others fail to see that, but we didn't.

It was one thing that we didn't fail to do.

We didn't fail to see that we were failures.

My hands skimmed over the screen of the phone. The text message printed on the screen stirred the emotions once again.

The same number I stared at that held the text message that made me warm on the inside, now held a different text that snuffed the fire.

I'm cold.

I'm angry.

I didn't need to call the bodyguards to know what happened. I saw their frantic calls and text messages, but I didn't give a f**k.

They had failed the one job I was paying them some serious dimes for.

F**k them!

An incoming text message from Elizabeth: You know what happened and you know how to solve it.

Tears burned my eyes, but white-hot rage burned my heart. I want to kill everything in my path, but the only thing that I need to do was find her.

They had her.

They had taken her away from me.

A return for what I've done to them.

It was fair in their eyes, but so cruel in others.
