They're both ambitious, both stubborn, and unbelievably arrogant.
He's the rising star. Some knew his name, but he was not stopping until the world knew it. He wants it printed on every billboard, branded into the mines of every human and animal.

Taylor's P.O.V
Have you ever gotten out of an airplane and had that ringing in your ears from the air pressure?
Or, has someone ever blown a horn right near your ears and you had the constant ringing going on?
Well, that explains me.
It was like I was in a daze from the airport to the airport in New York and to the hospital. I couldn't concentrate and I had this constant ringing in my ears making it hard to understand what others were saying around me.
If it wasn't for Kodan being with me at my home airport I think I would have missed my flight, due to my deafened ears and loud banging heart.
Ruby was in the hospital.
I didn't know the reason why. All I knew was that my best friend was on the phone line in hysterics and Kim never cries.
It's not something that she does.
So for her to call me in tears, I wasn't going to waste time trying to find out.
"Ma'am, this is your stop, you can get out now" I looked at the taxi driver who was glaring at me.
I probably was here for 10 minutes now just gazing. I'm not sure, but guessing by his scowl, I might have been. I whisked my suitcase out of the seat beside me and opened the door.
My first instinct was to run to the front desk.
"Ruby Highlander" I choked. It was when my first set of fat tears spurt from my eyes. The nurse looked at me and then at her book. She scanned over and I felt my heart tighten the longer the wait.
"Daughter of Kim Highlander" I nodded, "She's in the East Wing, room 102, but no visit-" the nurse try to finish, but I was gone after the room number was called.
The wheels on my suitcase weren't even rolling anymore. Just gliding from the speed I was going in. I skidded across the white porcelain floor and almost crash into Kim who was walking out of the room.
Her eyes widen, but when she saw me she grabbed me into a choking hug and began to sob.
"Oh, Kim" I cried, holding her. Tears soaked my shirt as I felt her shake my hands. I carefully guide her to the chairs that were just outside of the room and sit down. She was still crying on my shoulder. We were both still crying.
I honestly hope that it wasn't anything major, because I couldn't take any bad news on Ruby. She's like a daughter to me. I love her so much. I couldn't take her being hurt. I couldn't take losing her either. She's just too important to me.
"Kim" I peeled her away from me to look into her eyes. They were puffy and red. It looked like someone had punched her multiple times in them. "What's going on?" I asked and she was choked.
