Chapter 4: 2nd Date

~Two Weeks Later~

Today is Peeta and I's second date and because he will be starting work at 6 we decided to have a day date. Of course we're in the summer so there are lots of stuff too do but he's taking me to a zoo, I remember taking Prim there once. It was one of the fun days of our lives and she loves it. Anyway, Peeta did meet up for coffee in the afternoon on Sunday and just hung out which was nice and we talked more about what we liked. Our passions, hobbies. Found out that not only is he a surgeon but use to be a baker, he also paints, one day I want to see him paint cause I've never seen him paint before.

I spent as much time with Justin as I could during the weeks but I've also taken up more days and hours for more money but no matter what it's still too low and sooner or later we'll get kicked out of our apartment and we'll have no where else too go and it'll suck, Justin and I will be living on the streets. No money. Nothing. I can already see it, my car is low and I don't have enough money to fill it up, so we have to catch a cab everywhere we go like poor people but I don't dare tell Justin.

"So how've you been?" Peeta asks as we walk around the zoo and I shrug

"The usual but with less money" I sigh

"I can give you some couple hundred. I don't want you and Justin unsafe" he frowns

"No Peeta really. Thanks for the offer but there's already enough people giving us money. I don't want you too think I'm going out with you for your money" I say

"Let's not talk about that. Tell me more about yourself and family" he changes the subject and I'm happy he did, not wanting to be on that subject any longer

"Well. I'm from Boston. My father has been the best because when Prim was born, my mother said that she didn't want to deal with two girls and ran away with some rich guy and never came back. Just sent my father divorce papers. And so he raised me at six years old and Prim as a newborn, when Prim turned three he remarried a nice and beautiful woman who already had a girl Lily who was seven and a boy Eli who was twelve and they had two sons together Marc and Henry and now here we are" I explain

"Wow. How could your mother do that?" He asks and I shrug

"There are cruel people in the world. She sadly was one of them" I sigh

"Well. I'm from California. My parents are still together. I have two older brothers Rye and Troy and a little sister Sara who is in college right now. We owned a bakery when I was in high school and then I moved here to South Dakota when I got engaged and when we had Melody. Now here we are" he chuckles and I smile and we walk around pointing too our favourite animals and the stuff I hate like the insects in the insect area and I show him my favourite animal, Koala, I just think they look all cute and soft. He also shows me his favourite, a cheetah, he says cause they're intelligent and quick at what they do.

"So. What school will Justin be going into?" Peeta asks as we eat our ice creams around the park and I sigh

"I don't know if he will to be honest. I just don't have enough money. I'll need to homeschool him somehow" I admit

"Why don't you let me just give you enough money to help him go to school?" He asks and I sigh

"I'm sorry but I don't want to take the impression of the girlfriend who wants you for your money" I frown and he stops us and places his free hand on my cheek

"You. Will never make that impression. Never" he firmly states and kisses me

"Thanks for the offer though" I thank and he sadly smiles and nods and we start walking too his car.
