BRITTNEY

I was the last one to arrive for breakfast. I could not sleep the night before because I had a strange itch in both of my hands and then suddenly my hands went extremely hot. I was in my washroom for two to three hours trying to cool my hands down and when at last it did cool down I fell asleep then and there... yes, I fell asleep in the washroom. And so next morning I not only woke up late I woke up with an ache in the neck and as a result I could not move my neck much.

When I went downstairs for breakfast I found everybody sweaty and exhausted,

"What were you guys doing...? You are all sweaty and I don't know... sweaty..." I asked confused as to what I had missed.

"Well, you can say we all did a warm up... stretched out a little while you were sleeping" Lucy said.

"I see..." I said still feeling exhausted. (Sleeping in the washroom... don't try that.)

"Rough night?" Scott asked.

I simply nodded. The less I talked the better it was. I now not only had a neck pain but also a headache.

"Brittney do something..." Emma started.

"What!?" I said irritated interrupting Emma. I was too exhausted to be taking orders.

"Go to your room and sleep." Emma replied patiently.

"You serious?" I asked surprised. I thought that she would tell me to train or something. I was actually very glad to hear her say that though.

"And Josh you too. I think you need more sleep... like more than three hours. So why don't you both go back to your rooms and rest nicely after breakfast."

Josh who was eating a sandwich just stopped mid way surprised. Charlie meanwhile smirked seeing Josh's reaction.

"You know the dark circles are not exactly suiting you" Emma said before leaving then table as she went into the kitchen.

It was fun watching Josh face go as red as a tomato as he took a huge bite off his sandwich. When Emma returned she said,

"Since the two of you will be resting till afternoon today the rest of us will be spending the time in the library. I still have to do research about the vipers in case we come across them or her again. While the rest of you will be researching about anything connected to the globe. Then all of us will meet in the meeting room. All the eight of us."

And so everybody hurriedly finished their breakfast and went to the library. Even josh tried to go into the library with the others but one "death" stare from Emma and Josh took a nice U-turn towards his room. It took me some time to finish my breakfast and so Emma accompanied me and waited for me to finish patiently. One cannot guess that Emma was actually sick yesterday and also the day before. There was an awkward silence for a while until Emma asked me why I could not sleep well yesterday. And hence I explained to her the unusual behaviour of my hands. Emma listened to it quite attentively,

"Wait here." She said and she hurried her way towards the library. I was still halfway my huge sandwich and so I waited for her to return.

Emma returned after a while with a huge book in her hand. It's cover was a maroon leather with black letters... which said,

"Έλληνες ξόρκια"

It was in Greek writing meaning "Greek Spells", pronounced "Éllines xórkia"

I know how to read Greek. Wizards should know all the powerful languages. And there are many like, Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Indian, Norse, Japanese etc etc.

"Greek spells?" I asked curiously,.

"You can read Greek? Lovely... then this should not be a problem. Can you do this spell on yourself" Emma asked showing me,

"Δροσερός droserós"

"It means cool. It is a basic spell so I can do it on myself. But why should I put a spell on myself again?"

"Because since your hands grow hot putting this spell will help you keep it cool. But you can't do it on your own hands... Wait."

Emma then called the elf named Ricky.

"But if I put that spell on my hands they will freeze..."

"Not exactly Brittney. If I had to freeze your hands I would have used the Freeze spell and would have called Scott. He is good in Ice magic. But the reason I am using the "cool" Greek spell since they can balance the temperature of your hands if they get too hot. It's the same with the "Heat" Greek spell but it will only balance the temperature when your hands cool down more than it should. Greek spells as you know helps in securing balance and so does Egyptian spells, but Egyptian spells can mess up a lot and you can lose both of your hands." Emma mentioned quite casually.

"And since none of us want that we are using this spell. I do hope you are satisfied with my answer. Ricky here is specialized in Greek and Ice magic so you don't need to worry."

I just nodded. I had lost my appetite by then. Ricky did the spell without any warning. I was half expecting to find my hands freezed, but then I found nothing had happened to my hands,

"Well, it doesn't seem to be working. I will go to my room then." I said trying to run away before Ricky could put that spell again on me.

"It will only work when required Brittney" Emma said from behind. I turned and gave her a brief nod before leaving. And with that I went to my room to sleep soundly and not in the washroom this time..
