 VALKYRIE

THE REVERIE WITH MY MOTHER

In the middle of the night, I ended up opening my eyes after listening to a very soft and distant melody. Music which was not familiar to my tympanums. Violin and harp sounds sounded in my ears with a soft insistence. I looked to the side and saw Eros asleep, turned to the other side. He seemed not to hear the same sounds that I was hearing on that occasion. Soon it made me confused.

Since so I had no alternative but raising my bed and walking toward our bedroom door. The song was still coming to my ears the same way as I was lying on my bed before.

Seconds later, I began to walk through the huge hall of the castle. The flames of the torches formed shadows without exact shapes on the walls. Apart from the noise of the melody which insisted on being present to my ears, the rest of the castle was as silent as a stone stuck in the same place because all they should be sleeping.

On the other hand, unexpectedly I stopped in the middle of the way when the melody silenced by itself and I saw a white shadow forming softly, getting curves of an appearance. I kept staring at it until it got an exact form and there was someone I knew.

Soon I screamed her name.

"Mom!"

I ran in her direction, feeling that my long nightgown with a light and slender fabric moved together with me.

My mother was in a light dress. Above her head was a garland of white flowers. Behind her back were huge clear wings like an angel's.

"Mother!"

I smiled at her, seeing her so perfect in front of me. It looked like she was alive and had never died some day.

"Daughter!"

She ended up opening her arms to receive me in her so affectionate hug and adopted by a maternal love, which could never die within her. Not imagining the soon after, I ran and leaned my face into her chest. Now I was also a mother and gave even more value to mother's love. The only love that united a mother to her child.

While we were embraced, her palm stroked one side of my face. My mother looked at the end of the corridor. Her mind was seeing my future and the future of my family.

"I miss you a lot, Mother! Please, do not leave me again!"

I confessed, lifting my head and staring at her face. My mother examined my vampire face and kept silent after that.

"I'm sorry I never told you what happened to me. What really I became, mother."

She shook her head, not caring about my cowardice to not have told her anything about my vampire lineage.

But she responded with a voice from beyond.

"I always suspected everything, my dear ..."

Finally, we got silent and I began to weep with remorse, longing, and much emotion to see my mother back in front of me had neutralized my movements. I knew just to embrace her with more force.

"Don't cry Valkyrie!"

She advised me as wiped my tears.

"I'm always around ... Even if you cannot feel or see my presence in your life."

This left me more relieved when she affirmed it. So I smiled and reminded of great news.

"I have a daughter," I smiled at something that was not part of our conversation. "You have a beautiful granddaughter. She is called Vær."

At this period, we both walked into my daughter's room and stayed there. Vær was asleep, wearing a long nightgown in the light color. Her face was reposed over her arms crossed. She seemed to sleep deeply. My mother sat on the edge of the marble bed and I sat on the other side. Both of us were admired with the sleep of my daughter. Vær looked like a grown angel and completely asleep by her deep sleep.

"She's very beautiful, daughter! And she looks a lot like you!"

"Yes," I smiled as watching my daughter with more admiration. Everyone always affirmed that she seemed to me a lot and it made me so proud. "Eros has the custom to say that she is my copy."

We smiled and suddenly I got serious and could not smile anymore. Something tormented me on that occasion and I ended up confessing her, with my eyes sitting on the image of my little girl.

"Vaer is with the crazy idea to go to the planet Earth and try to know the humans. I am very afraid that they might harm her."

My mother touched the side of Vær's face and smoothed it out as she said with her soft, weak and beyond voice.

"It is not the humans who will destroy your daughter but something very strong in her."

Then the appearance of my mother disappeared from the bed. I looked dumbstruck around Vær's room and did not see my mother anymore and even so I kept exclaiming over and over again for her.

"Mother! Mother! Mom!"

In that second, I opened my eyes and kept screaming for her. Due to this, Eros awoke from his deep sleep and saw me awake as well, as I was sitting up in bed and still shouting for my mother.

"What happened, Valkyrie? Why are you screaming like that?"

I passed my hand in my loose hair as I made myself sure that I had just had a dream.

"I dreamed of my mother."

I jumped into the arms of Eros, begging him a sheltering embrace with my frightened gestures. The images of my dream were still all in my mind and what else had left me impressed, was the last sentence that my mother told me before she disappeared from my daughter's room.

Eros hugged me stronger and kissed the top of my head. I was still clinging to his cold, naked chest. He transmitted me so much comfort and safety and just the moments that I needed him the more.

"My mother said It is not the humans who will destroy your daughter but something very strong in her."

I closed my eyes and I was more afraid of it. Eros ended up feeling my insecurity through my arms glued to his body during the moment when I refused to open my own eyes.

"Be calm, Valkyrie. Nothing bad will happen to our Vær. We have to think positive about her life. Our daughter will not be alone when she has gone to the planet Earth. Now that Enzo was designed to go with her, I confess I'm more tranquil and want you to be too."

Another kiss covered the top of my head and I ended up opening my eyes slowly. Sometimes Eros could choose the right words to make me calmer. So I ended up agreeing with his optimism.

Everything was going to work well during the trip of our daughter to planet Earth and Vær would be so safe under the protection of her loyal guardian, so as I was in my husband's arms at that time.

Now it was a matter of confiding only on the good things in favor of Vær.

Only that.
