 VALKYRIE

THE BEGINNING OF A MISSION

The next morning, I realized that Vær did not sit at the table to share breakfast with us. She should have awake to perform her routine tasks. Waking up, combing her hair, changing clothes and making company to her family.

Well then, this morning, something seemed different. The routine in the castle was not like the habit of other past days. Since then, I rose from the chair and uttered to all sitting around the table.

"Vaer still did not get up. I am going to call her to have breakfast with us."

Vincent grimaced, thinking Vær should already be there and his daughter did not need to remember her from her morning obligation.

"Vaer is beginning to behave improperly in this castle." My father looked on the face of Eros. "She barely turned eighteen and already thinks she governs her own world."

He sighed.

"Imagine when she has a hundred 100 years!"

All were silent and Enzo scratched his chin, thinking that his master was totally right. Vær was not any bird or any butterfly but had sprouted wings so early.

Minutes later, I returned running down the center corridor, shouting desperately.

"My daughter is not in the castle!"

Everyone sitting at the table looked in my direction. Eros was the first one to rise from his chair and stare at me with alarm. My statement had stolen his father's tranquility.

"What have you told, honey?"

I ran to him and leaned my hands on the collar of his dark shirt.

"Vaer is not in her room! Her nightgown is lying on the ground. She not even slept in the palace."

"It cannot be!"

Eros whispered, shocked by the disappearance of our daughter.

Vincent looked around and made one of his orders already foreseen by his subordinate vampires.

"Make searches around the castle! It may be that she is nearby! Also, you go to the town of the pre-vampires! Maybe she went there alone and without our permission. The rebelliousness of my granddaughter does not make me discard any of these hypotheses."

VINCENT

Hours passed by and all searches were made. Eros and Valkyrie looked for Vær throughout the vicinity of the castle, while Enzo was in charge to go to the town of the Pre-vampires to look for my granddaughter.

I was in the main room, sitting on my throne as I was awaiting the return of Eros, Valkyrie, and Enzo, in the hope they could bring news of the whereabouts of my granddaughter.

Eros came alongside Valkyrie; both had sought together for their daughter. They approached and were standing in front of my throne. Their faces did not bring any good news. They have already stamped on their faces that something was still out of control.

"And my granddaughter?"

I questioned, seriously looking at them.

Eros looked down and scratched his forehead, Valkyrie hugged him and began to lament almost in tears.

"Vaer is nowhere."

I tapped my fingertips on the arm of my throne. I was still waiting Enzo return from the town of the Pre-vampires since I still had the hope that he could bring good news, or rather, he could bring Vær with him.

Soon after, he came into the main room, walking with his head bent through the dark carpet. His hands were thrown back his back, after his wings of angels had been hidden so sudden.

Enzo also did not seem to bring me good notices. After all, Vær was not with him.

In the course of this, my suspicion was confirmed when my servant stood before me and lifted his gray eyes in my direction.

"Your Granddaughter is not in the town of the Pre-vampires as well."

Everyone there lamented this statement and Valkyrie clung to her husband with despair while she was imagining Vær was in danger.

"I want my daughter! I want my daughter back! Eros, bring our daughter back!"

Automatically I cried on the spot.

"No!"

Everyone looked at me with amazement and the tears of Valkyrie contained at the same time. My daughter was still looking with the thud in my direction while I kept saying.

"Vaer went to the planet Earth. She did it hidden from us. This is fact."

I just lifted from my throne and took aim for the vampires there, all before me.

"We gave her our word that we will not go behind her on the Earth. Does every of you remember that?"

Valkyrie and Eros shook their heads slowly, agreeing with my words.

At that moment, I walked in the direction of Enzo and stood before him. I looked in his serious countenance and informed him, from master to servant.

"But Vær knew she would have a guardian to protect her." So I cast a look at Enzo's image again. "And that she may have yet."

There was a brief silence in the gigantic room.

Soon, my hand touched the shoulder of Enzo and he stared me in the face. During the moment when he knew, he should embrace my orders.

"Enzo, go to the planet Earth now! Go behind my granddaughter and only return to this castle when you can bring Vær with you."

During this, I faced him with seriousness and threat.

"If you fail for some motive and my granddaughter does not return to Neptune with you, I warn you that you may be considered a destroyed vampire! Because I will not save your life after you have not been able to protect my descendant."

Enzo looked down and gently shook his head, agreeing with my notice. He understood the weight of my words and the weight of his destruction if he failed in his mission on Earth.

"Okay, master."

Finally, he whispered, slowly raising his gray eyes on my face. I compressed my lips and removed my hand from his right shoulder.

"Give me your arm here!"

I ordered him.

Confused, Enzo lifted the part of his body in my direction. I held his forearm and my invisible power rolled up the sleeve of his cloak and uncovered his pale arm. During this, my eyes observed his forearm and a power in blue color came out of my gray eyes and hit his fragile skin. On it were engraved in dark letters the numbers below.

365

Enzo murmured in pain for the period of this, smokes came out of his skin, exactly from the place which was traced the numbers. I released the arm of my servant after that.

Valkyrie and Eros stared at us blankly.

But I only had eyes for Enzo's image on that occasion. All responsibility for my granddaughter had been placed in him.

So I took aim with more authority and ordered a few words at him.

"You have only 365 days to complete your mission."

After this advice, I turned my back to my servant and walked back to my throne and sat down again on it. I looked at the picture of Enzo, standing, holding his forearm as he seemed very impressed with the numbers written on his pale skin.

"I want my granddaughter back to this castle before the 366 days." paused my speech for a few seconds, "The counting has already begun at that moment! Then go and fulfill your mission as a guardian from Neptune!"
