First and Last

Chapter 18

                “Have you seen Reina?” Amber asked us after class.

                “I thought she’s with you,” I said.

                Amber and Reina were supposed to go the Student Council Room.

                “I am with her but she disappeared,” Amber said.

                “Try calling her,” Lorelei said.

                I dialed Reina’s number and waited for her to answer it. “No answer,” I said.

                “Try again,” Amber insisted.

                I redialed and waited again. “Reina!” I said when she picked up. “Where are you??”

                “I’m – I’m in the restroom,” I heard her stammered. Was she crying?

                “Are you crying?” I asked her. “Which restroom?”

                “She’s crying?” Amber asked.

                “Shhh. I can’t hear her,” I said. “Where?”

                “6th floor,” she cried.

                Yeah. She was really crying. We all went to the 6th floor and went to the ladies restroom. “Reina,” we called. She must be in one of the cubicles.

                We opened all the cubicles and just one cubicle was locked. “Hey open up!” Lorelei shouted.

                “Reina,” I called.

                “Come out Reina,” Amber said.

                We were all worried. We don’t know what happened to her.

                She opened the door and she looked miserable.

                “What happened to you?” I asked her.

                She went to the sink and looked at herself in the mirror. “I looked – ugly,” she shrugged.

                “Can you please tell us what happened?” Lorelei asked. “We are all worried you know.”

                She looked at us and smiled. “It’s nothing,” she said.

                “You really are a great actress you know. Look at yourself. Don’t say it’s nothing,” Amber said angrily.

                We all waited for her to say something.

                “I – I confess to him,” Reina said and she bowed down her head.

                My heart sank.

                “Can you please tell everything?” Lorelei pleaded.

                “Maybe we should talk somewhere else,” I suggested. “Let’s go to a nearby café.”

                “How about Swiss Café?” Amber suggested.
