The Storm

The sound of heavy ran filled the room. You quietly sat on the brown couch, looking through Instagram on your phone. Nate sat next to you, his laptop in front of him, typing away. The rain grew stronger and stronger each minute, making the sky go even darker. Suddenly, light filled the room, followed by a large boom of thunder. It startled you so much that your phone flew right out of your hands, and you landed on top of Nate.

"Ow, watch it Y/n!"

Nate said in a sarcastic tone. He pushed you off of him and you sat up, reaching for your phone. He handed it to you with a stupid look on his face, one eyebrow raised. 

"Sorry!"

You said, playfully punching his arm. Another lightning strike, followed by even more thunder came, almost enough to shake the whole house. Nate closed his laptop and placed it on the table in front of the couch. He then reached over you and grabbed your phone. After placing the phone next to his laptop, he looked at you. In the dim light of the living room, you could barely make out his face, but you could still see his bright smile.

"Let's take a break from our electronics and just listen to the rain for a while."

Nate said, wrapping one arm around you, pulling you closer to him. You both just sat there for a while, listening to the rain hit the windows and roof. You buried your head into Nate's side, and he held you tighter. The rain continued, occasional thunder strikes going through the air. You and Nate continued to sit there in silence. Soon, you could hear Nate's breathing become lighter, and he drifted off into sleep. His arm didn't hold onto your side as tightly, but you kept it there. You adjusted yourself into a more comfortable position, trying not to wake Nate up, and fell asleep, one arm wrapped around his stomach. The rain still fell and thunder still boomed occasionally, but you both continued to sleep through the harsh storm going on outside. Being with Nate made you feel safe.
