You ran into the amusement park, Nate by your side.
"I'm so excited! What do you wanna do first?"
Nate took a look around as you waited for an answer. His gaze fixed on a giant roller coaster near the back of the area.
"Ooo, you wanna do the coaster?"
You said, beginning to run towards it. Quickly, Nate grabbed your arm, stopping you on the spot.
"H-how about we play some games first..."
He let go of your arm, nervously looking for a game to play.
"Okay, let's go, then we can do some cool rides!"
"Yeah..."
Nate said with a worried tone. You walked over to the game area, with him following next to you. You stopped at the stand with waterguns attached to the front, targets inside. All sorts of prizes lined the wall. They were pretty cheesy, but you still wanted one.
"Let's do this one."
Nate said, standing by the counter, a watergun already in his hand.
"Alright, I'm gonna beat you though."
Nate let out a small laugh as you walked over to another watergun. He didn't seem nervous anymore. The bell rang and you began to aim for the target. Nate was slightly ahead of you, but you continued to catch up quickly. Finally, you made it to the top first, and the bell went off.
"Yes!"
You said, jumping up and down. You received your prize, a stuffed bear, it was small, but you liked it a lot. You continued to look at other games.
"I let you win... I'm gonna get you next time!"
Nate said with a sarcastic tone. You rolled your eyes as you hit him on the arm with the bear. You both continued to walk around, looking at booths. Finally, you grabbed Nate by the arm once again and rushed him over to one of the roller coasters. It was the biggest one there, and you had wanted to ride it for a while.
"What's wrong Nate, aren't you excited?"
You said to Nate, who was trembling on the spot while waiting in line.
"Y/n, you know I have a fear of heights... and that means roller coasters too..."
He said, even his voice slightly shaking.
"You'll be fine, it's gonna be fun I promise. It's not even that high."
You said, pointing to the roller coaster standing above you. The cart made an abrupt stop at the entrance and the people got off.
"Our turn!"
You said excitedly, grabbing Nate's hand, pulling him into the cart. There were several cars behind you, two in front, people filling all of them. Nate sat to your left, and you pulled down the safety bar.
"This is gonna be fun, I promise Nate. It's only a wooden coaster, it won't be too intense."
Nate didn't reply, he just held onto the bar, a nervous expression on his face. The cart began to move up the first hill. It was a large hill, the cart was almost vertical by the time you reached the top.
"No no no no."
You heard Nate whisper. Right after, the cart went down the hill. You could hear Nate screaming loudly, along all of the other sounds of the roller coaster going on. The cart went around the track faster each second and soon slowed down for the second hill. It wasn't as high as the first one, but it was still pretty tall. You could finally turn your head to look at Nate without the force of the wind pulling you back. His eyes were closed, and he was holding on to your arm for dear life. You didn't notice at first, but it looked like he was doing it for a while now.
"Nate, it's okay, the fast part's over."
His eyes slowly opened. He noticed that he had been grabbing your arm and quickly let go, his face turning red. The cart continued to travel up the second hill and went down it. It wasn't as intense at the first hill, but you still held your arms up in the air. You looked back at Nate and saw a small smile on his face, but he still looked scared. Finally, the cart came to a stop and you both got off.
"So, what did you think?"
You said, looking up at Nate for a response.
"I-it was actually kinda fun.... I still don't like roller coasters though. No matter what, heights will always creep me out."
Nate laughed and you both continued to walk around.
"What was your favorite part? I liked the first hill it was awesome!"
You said. Nate's face turned red again.
"I just liked facing my fear with you by my side. Y-you helped me a lot with that Y/n."
Nate was too nervous to look you in the eye, his face turning even more red.
"Awww Nate."
You said, playfully punching his arm. Nate let out an awkward laugh and you tried to convince him to go on more rides. It was already dark outside by the time you were done riding a few more rides. You walked out of the park, the bear plush being carried in your right hand, Nate's hand in your left, listening to the sounds of the amusement park fade as you walked farther away from it.
