(16 Years old, 11th grade Junior year)

You walked into school, holding a few books in one arm. The sound of loud conversations flooded over you as you walked into your classroom and sat down at your desk. After placing your books down on the desk next to you that was always empty, you opened your notebook and began to sketch some pictures. After sketching a few random scribbles, you began to draw video game characters. You sketched Sonic, some Mario characters, and finally, some pokemon. You looked down at the quick sketch of a pokeball that you had just drawn and pulled up one sleeve of your shirt. You held the two charms on the end of your bracelet in your hand, twirling them around. Memories from your past flooded your mind, but you quickly tried to cover them up with other things.

"It's been five years Y/n, he's not coming back."

You thought to yourself as you pulled your sleeve back down. You drew an Eevie in the corner of your notebook as the teacher walked into the room.

"Hello class, I know that we are about halfway through the school year, but we have a new student joining us for the rest of the year."

Uninterested, you continued to look down at your books as you rolled a pencil across your desk.

"Everyone, this is Nathan Smith, he just moved here this weekend."

As soon as you heard the name, you stopped everything that you were doing, your eyes wide. Quickly, you glanced up at where the new student was standing.

"No, that can't be him."

You thought to yourself as you looked at the new kid. He had dark brown eyes and somewhat long black hair.

"Nate's gone for good, this is all just a coincidence. All that guy is is a person that kind of looks like Nate with the same name."

You looked  away from the new student, trying to focus again on the pencil that had now rolled towards your notebook.

"Nathan, why don't you go sit down next to Y/n."

Your face turned red as you pushed all of your belongings to your desk. The new kid sat down next to you. He leaned closer to you, and you awkwardly stayed there, wondering what he was doing.

"Hey Pikachu."

He whispered to you. Chills went up your spine. You hadn't heard that nickname in years. Stunned, you turned to face him.

"N-nate?"

Nate just smiled at you, and you couldn't help but smile too. You wrapped your arms around him and held onto him tightly, making sure that you wouldn't loose him again.

"I thought that I would never see you again!"

You said, ready to tear up. As soon as you said that, your face turned red as you turned your head towards the class. They all looked at you, confused. You let go of Nate and slide back closer to your desk. Your face continued to get even redder and you stood up.

"Um, I have to go to the bathroom.

You said, awkwardly walking towards the door, motioning for Nate to follow. Nate got up and you waited for him in the hallway. Nate walked towards you and you ran back to him, jumping into him as your arms wrapped around him again.

"Woah calm down Y/n."

Nate said, laughing. You buried your head in his shirt and Nate hugged you back.

"I didn't think that I would see you ever again Nate! I missed you so much!"

You said, a few tears going down your face. Nate gently pushed you away, but his arms were still around you.

"Shh Y/n don't cry. I'm back, and I think I'm here to stay."

He said, brushing one hand through your hair. He smiled and you smiled back, wiping away tears.

"H-how did you move back?"

Nate looked over your shoulder and then back at you.

"How about we talk after school, we probably have to get back to class.

Nate let go of you and you turned around. You had completely forgotten that you were still at school.

"Yeah, that's probably a good idea."

You said with a laugh. Nate headed back to the classroom with you following close behind him.

"Come on Nate, we're almost there!"

You said, running down the street towards your house. Finally, you arrived and headed for the backyard.

"Wow, I remember this place, I missed living around here."

Nate said, looking around your yard. You sat down on the grass and Nate sat next to you.

"So, why did you come back?"

"Oh um...Things weren't really working out where we moved, so we moved back to this town."

Nate said shuffling in the grass.

"Well, I'm so glad that you're back."

You paused for a moment and then tackled Nate, which caught him off guard, making him topple over.

"Ow what was that for?!"

He said, laughing.

"That was for tackling ME eight years ago, Bulbasaur."

Nate rolled his eyes. Before you could stand back up, he wrapped his arms around your waste and rolled on top of you. He kneeled down, his arms pinned to either side of you, your faces inches away from each other.

"Wow, you still remember after all those years."

He said, smiling. Your face turned red as you looked back up at him. Nate was blushing a little bit himself. Nate then rolled off of you and sat up, slightly inching away from you to give you more room. You smiled back and sat up as well. You then lifted up your hand, revealing the bracelet that you were wearing.

"Yep, how could I forget, you're still my best friend, Nate."

Nate rolled his sleeve up, revealing his bracelet. You looked up at it, stunned.

"Y-you still have it."

Nate grabbed your wrist and connected both of the pokeball halves.

"Yeah, I never took it off."

You both looked down at the now-finished pokeball.

"Yeah me too."

You said back to him, looking up at his face. Nate looked back at you.

"Y/n,"

"Yeah Nate?"

Nate took a deep breath and began to slightly blush.

"Do you want to know why I really came back?"

You looked at him confused.

"Things weren't working out where you moved to?"

"Well... yeah... but the main reason is.... is.... umm.... f**k it!"

Nate replied as he pulled you closer to him. You both kissed. Surprised and shocked, you looked at Nate, who seemed a little stunned himself. After a few seconds, you let go of the kiss. Nate looked into your eyes, and you looked back.

"I've wanted to do that for eight years."

He said with a smile. You were still too surprised by everything that just happened. For a few seconds, you couldn't speak.

You and Nate lay down on the grass, holding hands. The sun had already set, and the moon was out. Stars glistened in the sky, and you looked up at them.

"I love you Nate."

You said, moving closer to Nate, resting your head on his side.

"I love you too Pikachu."
