"Y/n, wake up!"

You heard Nate say, shaking you back and forth. Slowly, you opened your eyes and saw Nate looking down at you. He looked very frightened, and looked like he was ready to burst into tears.

"What's wrong Nate?"

You sat up and rubbed your eyes. That's when you saw the problem. There was no sign of land whatsoever, only ocean stretching out into the distance. Scared, you looked around as hard as you could for any small islands or even any boats. However, there were none in sight.

"We're lost Y/n, even more than before."

Nate frantically looked for land. His fear of infinity was starting to get the best of him.

"Nate, we're going to be okay. We just have to start paddling and look for land."

Nate looked down at the paddle and picked it up. You picked up the other stick and you both began to paddle. The raft moved at a somewhat fast pace. After what seemed like forever, the sun began to beam down at the raft. It made you both extremely hot and weak. Nate stopped paddling and sat there, you stopped a few moments after.

"We've been doing this for hours Y/n and there's no land in sight. My anxiety and fear of the ocean are starting to kick in, we're done."

Nate lay down on the raft and put his hands over his face. You couldn't help but get worried with him. You lay down next to him and tried to hold back tears. Nate began to quietly cry, hoping that you wouldn't be able to hear. That was when the tears came. You both just lay there crying, it was nice to let it all out, but you still felt horrified. Nate took his hands away from his face and looked into your eyes. There were tears streaming down his face, but he had stopped crying, all around his eyes was red. Nate sat up and you followed. You wiped some tears off of your face and looked back at him. He inched closer to you and looked at you with sad eyes.

"Nate, crying isn't going to get us anywhere, we're going to get home okay?"

You said in a soft tone, trying to calm him down. Nate pulled you closer to him and he wrapped his arms around you. He buried his face in your shoulder and wouldn't let go. You closed your eyes and you both stayed there for a little longer. Suddenly, you heard a noise in the distance that made you open your eyes.

"N-Nate, do you hear that?"

Nate finally let go of you and concentrated on listening. His eyes lit up and he had a large grin on his face. You didn't think that you would see him this happy ever again, it lifted your mood as well.

"Boat!"

He yelled, frantically paddling towards the boat that could be seen in the distance. You helped him paddle and the boat was heading in your direction. Only then did you realize how weak you had become. You placed the paddle down next to you and kept an eye out for the boat, laying on the raft.

"Over here! Help!"

Nate yelled, standing up, making the raft shake. He waved his arms in the air as he tried to keep balance on the raft. The boat continued to inch towards the raft and came to a stop. Some people on board looked down at where you and Nate were. Nate looked down at you and kneeled at your side.

"Y/n, don't give up now, we're going to be okay, there's a boat! We're going to be home in no time, I can't loose you now!"

Just as he finished talking, the crew on the ship lowered a lifeboat into the water. Nate lifted you up and carried you into the small orange raft. The lifeboat was lifted back up onto the deck, and Nate lifted you onto the floor. The people on the boat crowded around you both and gave you blankets and food. You gained enough strength to sit up and take a few bites of some food that was placed in front of you. That was when the hunger kicked in and you devoured all of the food, Nate doing the same. The people on the ship left to do what they were doing before you showed up, it was just you and Nate sitting on the deck alone.

"Nate,"

You began to say, still finishing up some of the remaining food. He looked over at you and waited for you to continue to speak.

"How long were we out there?"

Nate finished what he was eating and replied.

"About three days I think."

Your eyes widened. It had seemed like you both were stuck there for months, fending for yourselves. Tears formed in your eyes. You inched over to Nate and hugged him.

"I wanna go home Nate."

He hugged you back.

"Y/n, we're okay. I told you that we were going to get home, and I'm keeping that promise. We'll be home by tomorrow."

Finally, you gained more strength and could stand up and walk around on your own. The boat began to go back to shore, and you could see the lights of a city in the distance. Right away you could recognize it.

"Nate, it's Los Angeles! We're home!"

You ran back over to where Nate was standing and grabbed his hands, excitedly jumping up and down. Nate smiled down at you and you both walked back over to the railing. The lights became closer and you watched every second of it. Nate wrapped one arm around your shoulder, and you felt safe. No more jungles with dangerous creatures, no more hunger, and no more vast oceans that terrified both of you. Nate kept his promise, you both had made it home.
