You opened your eyes, noticing that Nate's arm was still around you, and your head was still buried in his chest. Slowly, you sat up, trying not to wake him up. You then crawled out of the tent and looked around. The sun was up and you needed to begin to plan how you two were going to get home. After scanning the beach for a few minutes, Nate came out of the tent and began to walk beside you.

"Morning."

He said, kicking a rock into the ocean.

"Good morning Nate. Have any plans on how to get out of here?"

You said. You felt a bit better than yesterday, but were still very worried. Nate looked like he felt the same way.

"Maybe we can build a raft and look for other land."

You said, already gathering some wood. Nate gave you a nervous look.

"I'd rather not do that... I don't like the ocean, the vastness of it bothers me."

You started to tie large pieces of driftwood together with some vines that you found.

"I know, but we should really have this raft, just in case."

You said, standing back to admire your work. The raft was complete, just enough room for both of you.

"Okay, I guess that's a good id-"

Nate was interrupted by his stomach growling loudly. You let out a small laugh.

"We better get some food, I'm starving."

He finished saying, walking towards the jungle. You walked behind him. After long minutes of searching, you could barely walk. The tiredness and hunger were finally getting to you. You collapsed on the ground. Nate looked over at you and sat down next to you.

"Y/n, please don't give up yet, I'm going to get both of us home, no matter what I have to do."

You closed your eyes, even keeping them open was hard for you at this point. Nate stood up and wandered around a little more. You gained enough strength to open your eyes and looked around at the vast jungle around you. In the distance, you could see Nate, still looking for any signs of food. Suddenly, after a few more seconds, he ran back to you. He had a genuine smile as he placed a bunch of bananas in front of you. Your eyes lit up.

"H-how did you find food?"

You said as Nate took a seat in front of you.

"They were on a tree over there. Now eat, you need it."

You ate at a fast pace, like you hadn't eaten in years. After you ate three, you stopped, looking down at the two remaining bananas.

"Well, are you going to eat or what?"

You said, pushing one of the bananas closer to Nate. He pushed it back towards you.

"You need it more than I do Y/n. I'll be fine."

He smiled at you and tried to make it look as if he was perfectly fine. But you knew that he was starving.

"Take it Nate, please."

After a little more hesitation, he ate both of them. The food gave you enough strength to stand up, but any fast movements or even walking seemed impossible. You relied on Nate to keep you standing, by leaning on his side, one arm wrapped around his shoulders.

"You ok?"

He said concerned. Your legs shook but you pushed away from him.

"Yeah, I need to walk on my own or else I'm going to get even weaker."

You replied, taking shaky steps. Just before you started to walk back to the tent, some large bushes rustled behind you.

"N-nate?"

"Shhh."

Nate said, moving in front of you.

"There's something here. We have to make a run for it"

He whispered to you, backing up slowly, you still behind him. Whatever was making the bushes move edged closer.

"Nate I can't run, I'm too weak!"

Just as you said that, a black figure jumped out of the bushes. Nate scooped you up and started to run out of the jungle. You looked over his shoulder and saw a large black cat chasing after you. Nate ran back to the campsite that you both had been staying at. He held you with one arm, grabbing the raft that you had made with the other. He threw the raft into the ocean and hopped on, still holding onto you tightly, but now with both arms. The raft began to drift out to sea, and the panther stopped at the shoreline. It then turned around and walked back into the bushes.

"Nate, you can let go now, we're okay."

You said, your voice muffled in his shirt.

"I don't wanna."

He said, his voice slightly shaking, hugging you even tighter than before. You hugged him back. The raft continued to go even farther out into the ocean, there was no going back to that island, which was probably for the best because there was a hungry panther waiting for you there.

"Nate, you're kinda squishing me now."

You said, backing away from him. Nate let go of you and looked around. Once again, the sun was setting. Tonight was going to be difficult. All you had was the raft and a large stick that you had been using to paddle. Finally, when it got dark, you lay down next to Nate. The raft surprisingly had more room than the tent back on the island. This time, it was Nate who was shaking. He inched closer to you until he was right by your side. Your faces were almost touching.

"Nate, I know you have a fear of the ocean, but we're going to be okay."

Nate continued to tremble with fear, you put your hand on his head again, running fingers through his hair. Nate's eyes opened and he smiled, leaning his face in closer to yours.

"What are y-"

Nate kissed you, pulling you closer. After a few seconds, he stopped and looked into your eyes. He had a large grin on his face. All you could do was lay there, shocked.

"Goodnight Y/n."

Nate rolled over and went to sleep. You looked at the back of his head for a few seconds.

"Goodnight."

You whispered, closing your eyes and going to sleep, a smile stuck on your face.
