Birthday Surprise

You grinned as you looked down at the neatly wrapped box in your arms. It was Nate's birthday, and he was going to be home any minute. You already knew that he would love his present, there was no doubt in your mind. Finally, you watched as the door creaked open. After placing the present next to you on the couch, you stood up and walked over to Nate.

"Happy birthday!"

You said with a smile, wrapping your arms around him. Nate hugged you back for a few seconds.

"Thanks Y/n."

He said with a smile.

"So, how was your day?"

You said, walking over to the kitchen. Nate followed you and grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge.

"It was good. Everyone loves Sandcastle Kingdoms so far, so I'm pretty happy."

You walked over to where Nate was standing.

"I'm so proud of you, nerd."

You said with a laugh, rustling his hair with your hand. Nate pulled his head away.

"Stop that!"

He said with a laugh as he ran a hand through his hair to fix it. You walked over to the living room and picked up Nate's present. His eyes widened as he saw it.

"Aw Y/n, you didn't have to get me anything."

He said, walking over to you.

"Trust me, you're gonna love this."

You said, trying to contain some excitement as you sat down on the couch. Nate sat next to you and took the box. He began to tear off some of the wrapping paper.

"Wait!"

You said, taking your phone out of your pocket. You opened the camera an pressed record.

"Why are you recording? Is it really that exciting?"

Nate said with a small chuckle. He continued to rip off the wrapping paper, which revealed a small brown box with a lid. Your grin became more noticeable and Nate just grinned at you.

"Seriously, what's so special about this?"

He said. You rolled your eyes.

"Just open it."

Nate put a hand on the lid and opened the box. At first, there was a confused look on his face.

"A Pikachu onesie? Nah it's too small... a plush maybe..."

Nate began to say as he lifted up what was inside of the box. It was a small pikachu onesie that had a tail in the back and pikachu's ears on the hood. Nate held it in front of his face for a few seconds with the same confused stare.

"Huh? Why is it so sma-"

Before his finished his sentence, his eyes widened and he quickly glanced at you. Your smile became bigger.

"Y/n... does this mean what I think it means?"

Nate said to you, a grin on his face as he slightly trembled in his seat.

"...surprise...Your real present won't be here until about 6 months from now, sorry about that."

You said with a laugh. Nate wrapped his arms around you.

"Oh my god! I'm gonna be a dad!"

Nate yelled, not letting you go for a moment.

"Yeah you nerd."

You said laughing as you tussled Nate's hair again with a hand. This time Nate didn't stop you, he just sat there looking down at the onesie for a few seconds.

"Y/n, this is the best birthday present ever, I'm so happy!"

Nate said, a smile not leaving his face as he talked.

"I've known for a few weeks, do you know how hard it was not telling you? I'm just glad that you like your present."

You said. Nate hugged you again.

"Of course I love my present, I finally get to start a family with you Y/n! Ahh I'm so excited!"

Nate let go of the hug once again, a smile very noticeable on both of your faces. 

"Ok, let's go have some cake now."

You said with a laugh as you walked over to the kitchen. 

"Yep let's go."

Nate replied following behind you. You continued to think about the future for both you and Nate, and you already knew that it was going to be amazing.
